thought i'd give a little update...ish...
...still eating. managed a bagel today with peanut butter, and then some crackers. i've decided to go vegan. I somewhat wonder if this is an extension of the anorexia (since a vegan diet is extremely difficult to uphold) as well as my guilt as a vegetarian. So far no significant weight loss though...people say I look "bad"...what does that mean? erghhhhhhh. I'm severely lacking support right now...everyone is angry at me over the whole vegan decision and I'm turning against food as my own form of retaliation or something. hugs? help?

Always major hugs.... you mean so much to me...
personally, I don't feel that vegan is an extension of anorexia.... unless you use it as a ways and means of not eating.. for myself... because so much damage has been done to my body, am pretty much vegan...though I am trying to make sure I get the right balance... is hard because my body simply does not want to process food..but am continuing on in my journey.... please try to take vitaims.. and perhaps calcium supplements.. I have not yet been able to get them into my eating yet... I suggest like me,, you try a little bit.. at a time.. so they don't make you sick to your tummy... I wish you could get more support IRL... you have us here always... wanting the best for you... so giving you lots and lots of hugs.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Vegan doesn't have to be anorexic. I know some vegans, and wouldn't call them anorexic. But you really have to be careful to eat enough of the right things to keep your body going. Get enough protein. I'm vegetarian/pescatarian, and nuts are a staple for me. Beans are good too. Peanut butter sounds good. If you go vegan and don't get enough of what you need, you might have to go back to eating everything. I know people who had to go back to eating meat.

I'm stubborn as a mule (as I believe the saying goes...) I have been vegetarian for almost 6 years now and toward the beginning of that transition I was faced with (but managed to avoid) hospital/tube down throat/etc. due to malnutrition. I was sick, very sick. Worse even than a fall into anorexia, because I had no clue what was going on. Still, I refused meat at all costs.
Returning to what most call a "normal" diet is something I will never do. It's difficult to continue in this, yes, but it's something I will force my body to adapt to. Only in time... {I apologize if my reply comes off as a bit hostile, tis not meant to be such. I have met more opposition to this decision than to any other I think I have ever made, and honestly I am becoming quite defensive over the matter. I do understand what you mean and how it is dangerous to my health...I really do.}

It is perfectly fine to be vegan - it's your body you can do what you want with it but please make sure you know what you're doing and about nutrition and alternative sources of things. You should go see a nutritionist. Besides the obvious things like calcium and proteins etc there are also other less known but still important essential nutrients
It would be better to start off getting it right than getting sick and someone force feeding you something you don't agree with because I am sure they don't put vegan feeds down tubes. |

As far as I'm aware being a vegan is pretty hard. It involves never eating anything with eggs and honey in them (that's as far as I know about it though, sorry, lol). I've found a few links from vegan societies which give info on nutrition:
http://www.vegansociety.com/html/ http://www.vegan.org/ http://www.vegsoc.org/info/vegan-nutrition.html ... but there will be lots more info online too. I agree that you wanting to become vegan might be an extension of anorexia - but you'll have to watch yourself, and your weight, carefully to make sure you remain in good health.
