Bulimia? Lord knows I have been in therapy for Complex PTSD/Borderline but the eating disorder has never gone away. It was abated a bit to 2x a month for binge/purge or just purge but it has never gone away.
Seriously I am waiting to have some kind of health scare over it but I am completely healthy with none of those health issues they list under the eating disorder. If there are any other Bulimics out there what therapy has worked for you?

The thing with ED'S is that they becime a behavior that is much like a habbit & just like habbits they just don't go away without changing the behavior.
Hsve you had success with your T for C-PTSD/borderline? The thing is that most times it is those things that were the beginning underlying cause of the ED in the beginning & until the issues are resolved & the ED behavior changed, it wont JUST go away....or you just get so fed up eith it that you have had enough & stop like some smokers are able to do. Not easy but possible. So whatever therapy gets to the foundational issues that started your ED will be the T that helps.

As you probably know, DBT is common for Borderline.
My personal favorite is CBT. When I was in inpatient treatment at the Eating Recovery Center for Anorexia - binge eating/purging type, their main type of therapy was ACT. They also treated all types of eating disorders, and different inpatient facilities have different "main" therapies. In my unprofessional opinion, I don't think there really is a best therapy for bulimia. I have a friend with Bulimia C-PTSD and BPD, and her eating disorder flares up around trauma anniversaries, because she has never done the intense (and painful, I know) trauma work it would take to help her with her ED behaviors. Eating Disorders are SO SO incredibly diverse - despite what the DSM says - and everyone has different reasons for why they start and continue with those behaviors. So for you, the type of therapy that would be best for you is the type of therapy that treats the underlying reason for your ED. I know that's probably not the straight forward answer you want to hear, but I hope that helps some. Don't get discouraged, my friend, on this long road. Eating disorders are common, yet so misunderstood, and it is so easy to get discouraged at the pace of your recovery, but I am here to tell you that recovery is possible. You have to want it though. Keep fighting, my dear. ![]() There is hope.

Some people ARE capable of stopping their habbits without needing help. MOST people need help. Also IF you do not resolve what caused your ED in the first place, you will continue to be triggered by the same trigger & if you havent worked on changing THAT REACTION to those triggers, yiu will continue to be bothered by it. That is exactly why you have been struggling with it for so long
