I've got 20 kg to lose from meds and pregnancy weight gain. I can't seem to budge it cos I'm snacking on biscuits and cake etc

Any ideas on healthy easy to prepare snacks would be appreciated and any advice on how to resist temptation would also be good.

Here's some good advice what to eat and what to ignore:

I used to snack on junk food too. It's not easy to break this habit. Especially when you want to restrict yourself because you know that you gain weight eating this.

Is it just now or did you always snack on such foods? I'm asking because usually there are always chemical reasons for our organisms to go on high sugar foods. Obviously we needed some sugar or energy. Now when it comes to sugar why not go for fruits or even fried fruits (just chose fruits that don't have added sugar or that is not that much). Do you like them? Because I personally love some dried pineapple or dried coconut or even apricots and prunes. They are still sweet and have sugar and are like dessert, but I think that they are better choice for snack than biscuits.

The next idea I would give is raw nuts. Do you like nuts and are you allowed to eat them? One oz almonds, walnuts or hazelnuts, even cashew nuts is a good snack too. Well at least for me. That's why I'm asking if you like them.

Other idea is vegetable sticks. I think that there are carrot sticks that you could use for snack.

And why not a cup of plain Greek yogurt (without the added fruits or sugars in it)?

Snacks that take a little bit more time are the various smoothies. That work too when you are home and have time to prepare them.

Advise - just don't by junk food and this way you will be less tempted. Instead buy fruits, nuts, yogurt etc. Healthy snacks and with the time (yes it will be struggle of course) you will go for them more than for the biscuits, candy bars and cakes.

Get into drinking tea! White tea, green tea, oolong tea. Can be a good substitute for a snack and its ridiculously healthy.

Snaking is one of my annoyances as well. It's virtually impossible to just stop snacking altogether, so what I'd suggest is replace what you're eating with healthier foods and also to possibly reduce portion sizes down. So, instead of eating your biscuits and cake, you could replace it with healthier options such as nuts, rice crackers, rice cakes, dried fruit, fresh fruit, low fat yoghurt...

Just a few suggestions.

Hi. First of all congrats on having a baby. Second I think that the best way to prepare snacks it no to eat them at all. I know this sounds insane, but it's true. Snack are the things that makes us put on weight and as soon as we get rid of them and start doing some exercise, we should be back in shape.

Ok I'm not a role model for this since I have weight issue also, but I'm doing my best to avoid sweets and shacks. I was able to stop my weight gain more or less, but I still have a lot of weight to lose

You might try eating healthy snacks and fruits. It works well for me.
