my 5 lbs was apparently water weight. Still at a net loss but it is only 2 lbs. I'm up and down. Oh well at least it isn't a steady climb up. Long term goal is 70 lbs short term goal is any small step in the right direction.
Thanks for this!

Well May and so far the start of June have pretty much been a write-off. I relapsed beginning of May and pretty quickly escalated to daily drinking and alcohol has a ton of calories. Then when I started detoxing a week ago I was craving chips and ice cream and I just let myself eat what I wanted, to help get through the withdrawal.

So I've put on 3 lbs, and am back up to 201. This is better than I had feared at least.

So starting Mon., I'm going back on the mayo clinic diet, and I'm going to try to force myself to start exercising.

Getting back on track will be hard, I know.

Cut yourself some slack. You have worked very hard and continue to work hard. It's hard and the dr's don't help. Keep trying that's all any of us can do.

Back down to 198, and generally eating better, after a brief period of ice cream cravings. I see my dietitian in 2 weeks and I'd like to be down to 195 by then, just so that I'll have some movement.

Thanks htoun,

Haven't weighed myself since I last did - waiting for Wed. or Thurs.

Fingers crossed, but my eating has been pretty healthy.

Down to 196 today, so happy about that, and I picked up more fruit from the store, so I'm back to eating fruit more regularly. The biggest challenge is not binging on ice cream which I love.

And i'm still trying to motivate myself to start walking.

I am almost down to the weight I acknowledge. I am short so I pretend that everything over 220 is a fignewten of my over active imagination.
Thanks for this!

Had another bad period where I overate on the ice cream front so I went up a bit, but I got that under control and have now dropped down to 195. Definitely going to have to add in exercise.

Losing weight is hard.

i can really relate to your process, SplitImage...
i have stalled at 187, and can't seem to get lower. my appetite has jumped up and gotten the better of me, too. i thought summer would be easier,, but the longer the day, the more i want to eat.

it IS tough to tolerate feeling hungry, even if the mind might think it's not true~!.

let's remember all the other things we can do besides eat, and walking must def. be one of those~! best wishes~~

Thanks everyone.

Had a meeting with my dietitian and told her that weight loss hadn't been a priority for me as I focussed on staying sober.

I'm still at 195, so at least I haven't gone up. We both agree that I need to add in exercise.

But on the plus side,I'm eating a lot healthier than I was when I first started seeing her. I'm now getting in 8-10 servings of fruit and veg. which is huge. And I've really cut down on carbs.

I'm going to an IP rehab in 2 weeks, and will probably lose weight while I'm there, I always lose weight when I'm IP. Plus I think there's an exercise component to the program that might help jumpstart me.

congrats. I know staying at 195 is frustrating but it is an achievement.

My life sorta went sideways so I haven't even weight myself in a while. I have been freaking out about an appointment tomorrow. It's my one year check. Last year they said they were pretty sure it was nothing but we would check again in a year make sure nothing has changed. It's a bit of a worry

Thanks It's been a long few years. Started with a question... why did my urine test show blood? Dr said period. I said not in years. He said low grade infection. I said in every test over the last few years. They sent me to a urologist. Months later He said there is nothing wrong but your uterus looks weird on the ultrasound. My family dr sorta freaked lots of test and on to a gynecologist. More tests he said it was texturing 98% sure it's nothing will retest in a year. Today he said it is not cancer!! I should have taken someone with me to listen to the rest it's hard to concentrate after the not cancer part. I will savor this one. Next month we start the testing for nerve damage and to figure out why my foot is numb.

Is it any wonder with all the stuff happening and stress not to mention medical problems and side effects of drugs we are having so much problem with weight.

Coming back to this thread after a hiatus. I went into IP rehab at the beginning of August, and decided to completely stop worrying about my diet, and just focus on sobriety. Unfortunately, it's been so hot, that I've kind of been pigging out on ice cream almost every day.

So yesterday, I finally got the nerve up to step on the scale, and was shocked to discover I was still at 194. So I haven't gained any weight.

I'm going to start tracking my food and trying to follow the diet my dietitian and I put together, on Mon.

Still haven't started exercising, due to a bad lingering headcold, but hope to start on riding an excercise bike next week.

Well, one good thing about being sick is I have no desire to eat ice cream. So when I weighed myself this morning, I'm down to 191. That's only 1 lb from my first goal of 190 at which point my health risks drop.

Also went to my GP yesterday because this head cold would not go away and she said I have a bad sinus infection so I'm now on antibiotics, and a prescription nasal spray.

Once I start feeling better, I'll start exercising.

I'm amazed at all the stuff I can find to do to procrastinate about exercising.

With all the vitamins and minerals I have been taking and eating meals I have stopped gaining!! And have seemed to stabilize my weight. But I'm also feeling so stiff and sore. Spent a while after my emg sulking the dr said that I had at least one pinched nerve and probably more which may have been brought on by Hashimotos. That was news to me. I was talking to a cousin who also has this and the only really big difference in our treatment is she is still doing exercises because of an old leg injury. But knowing and doing are two very different things and it's hard to get motivated when everything aches!

Hi..!!!
Glad to know that you realised the importance of healthy body. Even I am on my weight loss journey and I would like to share with you some of my secrets.
1) I start my day with a glass of green tea and take special care of my breakfast. I include lot of fruits and boiled vegetables with a glass of juice.
2) I cook all of my food in olive oil and try to avoid sugar & junk food.
3) My lunch and dinner include healthy food with necessary calories.
4) Also I tried a weight loss supplement called, that has helped me a lot in losing weight.

I weighed myself today and I've finally broken 190. Was 189 on the dot this morning. That takes me from being obese to just overweight. Still have a long way to go to reach a healthy weight, but this was the first goal.

Thanks Fharrainge,

Well I'm down to 187 this morning. Guess I need to make an appointment with my dietitian to talk about setting my next target goal. And I really want to start exercising, but I'm still coughing, and want to wait until I'm healthy first.
