Anyone here every play the game Evony? It is a war based game of strategy and I just can't seem to stop playing it. I will stay up all day and night playing this game. Anyone else out there like that?

My friends play it. They tried to get me to play it. But I look at it as a cheap web browser game that doesnt interest me. I have an account because they made one for me.
Hell if I know what they signed me up under.

Id rather play world of warcraft then facebook/web browser games. Gives me a sense I am playing in a real world.

But I do hear it is good. But again, isnt my thing. haha

Evony,

I listened to a speaker, a psychologist...they evaluated the brain based on the games and found the same brain stuff going on in the brains of drug addicts. I'm not saying this well but say you play this game or that, it is the equivalent of using various drugs. I'll see if I can find the post for the information. I'm sure he's not the only one, he is just the only one I've read about.

If this is why you posted in the addictions forum.

I looooove the game!! i got 4 people hooked on it so that make me equivalent to a drug dealer? (i know i'm not funny but i can't change who i am, i just am)
anywayz, i thought about it all the time i finally just said to heck with it all...but than i kept getting emails beckoning me to come back and my friends were giving me crap for cuttin out.....i just couldn't keep up with it all .....anything in excessive use is unhealthy for you...it's all in moderation....but it just feels so good i can't stop
Thanks for this!

I have played Evony for 4 weeks. It felt like years. I spend real money on it. I slept in small shifts, and had computer always on the game, checking if I need to replenish resources, sending scouts, talking to the guild, planning attacks, coordinating defenses, queueing up new troop production, collecting resources, trading... well you know the drill.

Evony is particularly structured to make you feel you need to be there all the time.

My solution was to quit cold turkey. Since mine was in top 20 players, I could not make myself delete it, so I said goodbyes, asked our forum administrator to block my access to the guild forum, handed my acct to a guildie and requested that he changes the password as soon as he logs in. I burned every single bridge. I had no access to my id, I knew no one's private email to contact them again. The server was locked at that point so I could not just create a new acct and contact my guild to get back into my acct.

I missed it for only a few days. It was really a huge relief not to have to do it anymore.

Few months later I got an email from Evony that my acct was suspended for repeated violations. I laughed.
