Hello psychcentral,
First of all this is not about me, it is about my sis, i care her so much so that is why this thread is here. Now problem is she keeps repeat things like, she keeps check if power switch is off, not one or twice but more then 20-25 times and even she doesn't satisfy and keeps checking stuff even she know that that switch is off she keeps checking. But now days it gone worse, now it moved from checking things to repetitive voice, she asks me questions over and over again Questions Like, My husband (means my brother in law) is hiding from me anything ? (how would i know ?) (this is just sample can not write here all silly questions) (Very very silly questions she asks over and over again). even i answer and once it gets started it takes like 25 mins and more. i can not answer that much times. I Suggested to control herself and not to think about these silly things. but the result is zero till now. It got worse and worse. By the way , please some one let me know, what mental disease is this ? Should i get her to a doctor for this ? any home remedies or something that i can recommended her ? Please please please help !! |

Hello, jackie948. I think your sister would benefit from professional treatment. Perhaps, her primary car physician could refer her to an appropriate professional?

Hello jackie948, welcome to Psych Central.
We can't diagnose here but I can give you my opinion, it does sound very much like OCD >>>>>>>> All about OCD Obssessive-Compulsive Disorder Symptoms and Treatment

I am not in a position to diagnose, but it sounds like OCD is a possibility...and yeah she would probably benefit from some treatment for it. I don't know a ton about that disorder but I imagine perhaps there is therapy and maybe medications since I've read people with OCD do experience anxiety related to the compulsions....like they keep doing the same thing because they have to, or they feel the world might end. But it could be something else...either way it might be good to suggest she talk to someone about it.
I mean as annoying as it might be for you to hear the same question over and over, its probably 10x as annoying for her having it stuck in her head like that, so she'd probably like some relief.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hello dear Jackie948. Yes I too must say I'm no Dr or professional health worker in any way. However, I do suffer from various OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder(s) and this usually stems from anxiety, either a general anxiety or specific anxiety. It doesn't really matter the which, all serious anxiety can be crippling. It takes a long time just to leave the house when having to first go through these 'rituals'. Yes, they may seem silly or annoying to you and other people, but it's crucial for your sister to undertake them HER WAY. I'd honestly say she needs professional help, by therapy like CBT/DBT and/or meds. Could you start by asking her if she'd go with you to seek some help? There's no overnight ''cure'', but understanding and a proficient Dr and/or therapist WILL help a great deal. HUGS. XXXXXXXXx ![]() ![]() ![]() |

what you described in the beginning of this thread can be just about any thing....
example in some people I know repeating questions, actions is part of their ADHD in others its their bipolar disorder, in others its their learning disorder, in some people its part of their PTSD, in others its part of their anemia, cancer or other physical health problem, like others have posted it can be OCD or anxiety. it can also be normal or any other of the millions of mental, physical and normal things these symptoms can be. here on this website we are not supposed to try and diagnose each other or each others family friends..... this is because we can end up doing more harm then good... for example someone I know had these same symptoms and was told online it was OCD and the problem ended up being a physical health problem not a mental one that special medication took care of. she was lucky she did not go on what people online told her and contacted her doctor. otherwise she would not be alive today. another example someone I know went online hoping to diagnose their brother with these same symptoms. again they were told OCD but guess what the problem really wasnt a problem because it was just a normal part of life for the age of that brother. Another example was my wife, she had this same problem where she was getting tired of this one person asking repetitive questions and doing repetitive actions.. being a treatment provider she was guessing that her family member may have anxiety/OCD. but the reality was not a problem in her relative, the problem was with in herself. She has a mental disorder where sometimes she fixates on something and then pays attention to how often that action is done, and then gets irritated when she cant figure out how to make that person stop doing that action. the name for it with my wife is Psychosis / delusional thinking.....perceiving something that isnt really happening as being really happening. her psychiatrist put her on some meds and she stopped fixating on other peoples actions. I know that you want to figure this out but her doctor is the best person to diagnose the problem. here on Psych central there are members with all kinds of problems so the answers to questions like this are going to be people posting maybe its this maybe its that and giving you links based only on what you are posting. a qualified treatment provider can look past a post and see whats really happening. so Im very glad to read that you will take her to a doctor. |
