This is my first post and I am anxiously awaiting results that I will get at a doctor appointment tomorrow. His opinion of my many diagnosis and health issues is that I have a MTHFT mutation and he took a dna sample, ordered many blood tests, and a 24 hour urine lab. I will find out at the appointment if in fact this is the case and I am pretty nervous about it.
Over many years I have had so many health, both mental and physical issues that I thought maybe I was just a hypochondriac or just spent too much time looking up my symptoms and thus creating the issues.
I am still a little confused about the whole thing, but I didn't want to research too much into it because I felt I might get myself too overwhelmed.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Kindest Regards,
Trixxi08

Hello Vicki, let us know what the results are. I always think that knowledge is power and we are able to deal with things better, the more we know. In a way it helps to know the why and then we can cope with it better. I have already googled MTHFR and there is a wealth of information on it but I won't post it yet until we know your results. Hugs

I saw the doctor this morning and the results were as I thought... I am positive for both the A1298>heterozyggous and the 677C>heterozygous mutations. The doctor told me to start taking methylfolate at 1mg for two weeks and increase the dose by 1 mg every 2 weeks.
My bloodword showed high homocystiene levels, low iron (anemia) which can result from high heavy metal content, and he also said the rls I suffer from is more than likely a result of the low iron I have had for such a long time. The hashimoto's anitibodie are in full tilt as usual and my serum folate excessive, which proves this theory that my body is not effectively metabolising folic acid.
The best part is that now I have an answer and I just have to begin from the beginning.
Thank you for responding to me, it means so much that someone cares.

Hope you have answers soon. I also, looked.
It is anxiety provoking, to wait to know results. Did he have a prognosis, before labs were run? Sometimes, prognosis' help, the anxieties a bit.
