Monday I have my 8th treatment & feel no different. I don't think it's helping at all. Although the dr keeps trying to tell me I'm a late bloomer & that the next few might make the difference we're looking for. Does this sound legit? I'm ready to give up...it doesn't help me at all.
I have no idea what to do, but I know I'm tired of going to these treatments! I don't see the point. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.

My friend had a total of 35 or 40 treatment over a period of 3 years. They started out with 3 a week and then started weekly and every other week and finally monthly.
The way I could tell it was working was that by the weeks or month had passed since the last treatment, the symptoms of BP became worse. After the ECT sleep returned to normal and BP returned to less exaggerated. But medicine was a big part of her therapy and her psychiatrist did a good job of adjusting her meds as needed. Are you on medicines? If not you could ask your pdoc to try that and see if that is more effective. |

I had 8 total and feel they saved my life. The meds and diagnosis are different too though so who knows. I noticed a change around the 7th I think. My memory didn't get bad no real side effects that lasted more then a week after. I almost had 9 more in a different hospital up state but the p would not let me drive home for 3 weeks so I said no. I would suggest 3 more then take a week off to see if there are any changes and do some real soul searching. No the number scale on everything. Talk to you T and P and ask them if they notice any small improvement.

My ECT treatment had no effect on me whatsoever. It was months after that I finally started to heal on my own.

If your P'doc keeps insisting after more treatments, I would seek a second opinion from another P'doc. Good Luck
