Hi! I'm new here and I just have a question on whether I have stress or not. I feel as though I am overthinking some of the symptoms I think are of stress. Also, I feel I am being too self-conscious or even self-centered because I think I have stress.
I don't think I have too much work to do (oh I am in high school) or any major (personal) problems.
I DO feel like I'm stressed and through the glorious Internet it seems like some of the stress symptoms seem to match to sometimes what I feel (physically and mentally)
I thank anyone who can answer this sincerely and nicely .

On a side note, I have had a long habit (I can remember since grade 7, I believe)of picking (and I hate to admit sometimes eating) the skin around my fingers. I've found some people who do that as well and I thought it's just a nasty habit I picked up (maybe from killing the habit of biting my nails which surprisingly I have stopped doing). Again kudos to people who can answer my questions. Thank you .
(Sorry if my grammar is a little hard to understand :/)

I think everyone has stress these days, even people like you who don't think you should mention it.
Because you are in high school, I might suggest that you try to stop thinking in terms of stress and use that energy to De-stress instead. Proven things to do this: exercise. Have you ever heard of "runners high"? It applies to any sort of physical exertion and if done regularly, will absolutely reduce your stress. And give you a nice, natural, happy feeling.
You must have just started a new school year and that has to be shock to your system after a long hot summer. Try hard Not to pick at your skin, just like when you stopped biting your nails, both bad habits. You can do it! Did you know you can change your behavior in just 6 weeks of concentrated effort to change? It's true. It takes will power, but I think you must have some of that in there.
I hope you have a brilliant school year and I wish you the best as you learn to handle your stress, on your terms.

p.s. "don't worry, be happy." -bobby mcferrin

Thank you for the replies I kinda needed to hear it from someone else other than me. I will try exercise as one technique. Not someone who typically does exercise :P.

Hi musicflower16, I am one of those people who picks at my cuticles. During times of extreme stress my cuticles have sometimes looked absolutely horrid. I started going for manicures and have my nails gel polished. That has helped so much with the skin-picking. I'm assuming you're female, but even guys can go for manicures.
Thanks for this!

Oh thanks for the suggestion (on the manicures). I would try them it's just that it's embarassing to tell my parents especially my mom (my dad was a doctor so he'd kinda understand). Do you know any other methods? I mean there is just will power alone but that IS hard to do :P
