Hello enabler1968, welcome to Psych Central.

Without knowing more about you, it's hard to say. Everyone makes bad decisions whether they have a mental health issue or not. We can't diagnose here anyway but you might like to check out these online tests which can give you a better idea of what is going on. Psychological Tests and Quizzes and The Sanity Score - Test Your Mental Wellness then you can print out the results and share it with your doctor.

BPD is such a hard diagnosis to pin down, i think. it can be a bad day, a bad habit, or a bad life that brings out those symptoms,,, or it can be a brain chemistry disorder.... and the people who have it seem to be the last to notice ~

here is the link to the Quiz mentioned by Peg, it's more of a check-list, really. take a look if you have time, and see if you recognize yourself~
best wishes~

have been diagnosed with BPD, and one of the main symptoms (from what a therapist told me) is impulsiveness. more often it is the impulsive decisions rather than plain old bad decisions that have the detrimental effect on our lives.

by impulsive, I do really mean doing things on impulse with out even realizing it in some cases, like dating that woman who abuses you simply because you are lonely, and she is available.
