I've been having this problem lately where around my wrists I feel like I'm wearing tight shackles, even though I've never even been in handcuffs my entire life. I can't wear watches or bracelets because I try to tear them apart right after I put them on. Even as I type this my wrists and hands feel weighed down, and I can feel the skin tingling. Rubbing them doesn't help, and neither does doing things freely that I know I couldn't do if I actually had any on. I just want to know why this is happening and how I can stop it, because it really, really messes with me.

I haven't heard of that before. I know I have never been able to where a watch or a ring or anything like that. It drives me crazy. But I have not experienced what you are talking about.

Hopefully someone has some insight. Maybe some form of OCD????

Hi time ghost, I'd say you should get a medical check to begin with.........some medical conditions can lead to a tightness/discomfort (or pain) around the wrists, so maybe........???
Have a good think about anything else that could be out of the "norm" for you as well, or any other things that could be concerning (even if only slightly)...........could be more symptoms.......or just the wrist sensations..........but I'd say give your doctor a try and see what they say.

I've been having upsetting dreams lately, I suppose. I can't remember much of them. That's about it.

This might sound like an odd question but have you been noticing any visual effects/artifacts in your periphery vision?

Have you been practicing meditation by any chance, or other spiritual practices?

I haven't been seeing anything strange. I tried meditation a few years back and it didn't do anything for me, and I'm nonreligious.

Okay thanks for responding to my questions...

I'd be curious to find out if these symptoms are transient and end up going away in due time... How long have you been experiencing this?

I hope it will go away soon. It started recently, about a week ago. I've had the dreams for much longer.

If you don't mind me inquiring, what is the nature of the dreams that you can recall?

They're pretty weird and extremely inconsistent, but they have common themes. Usually I'm in a large building, there's typically a lot of me running away from people, like teachers or cops or criminals. I always run by a lot of people along the way, but no one really seems fazed by it all. I'm almost never scared in them either. Just exhilarated.

Hello time ghost, welcome to Psych Central.

A few things come to mind.

Have you ever been shackled or restrained in the past? If so, this could be a flashback and part of PTSD. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - Psych Central Anxiety can also make us imagine all sorts of uncomfortable sensations. Anxiety, Panic and Phobia Center - Psych Central

Or there could be a physical reason for this such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Carpal tunnel syndrome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If the sensation persists, please go and see your doctor.

No, I've never been restrained or cuffed or anything. It definitely isn't carpal tunnel syndrome either, but I'll look into the anxiety stuff more. Thank you for the insight and the welcome.
