So I'm 19 (female) and I've been seeing a therapist for about 7 months now. I never really wanted to go in the first place, my parents wanted me to and I didn't really have much choice. At first, I was okay, I didn't hate it THIS much. But lately, like the past month or so, I HATE going to my appointments. After each appointment I just worry until the next one. I dont know what happened, but all of a sudden I hate it. The fact that I go, the fact that I have to share feelings, it's all making me really angry and pissed off. I have one today and I'm FREAKING out.
What do I do? Is this even normal? I love the therapist, she's great and amazing with me. Im just tired of feeling so SCARED all the time and wasting my week worrying. |

'Hello AnxiousGirl,
It may be that your therapist is going a bit too fast, let her know what you're feeling between sessions and how you are hating it. Your therapist should then give you some coping stratergies to help you. Often therapy can bring up some really uncomfortable feelings and letting your therapist know will help her to slow things down a bit. Incidently anger is healthy! ![]()

Hello AnxiousGirl,
I do agree that you should speak to your therapist about how you feel about therapy. Perhaps there might be underlying issues you may be having that you might want to talk out? I understand your feelings regarding your anxieties with therapy. The wonderful news though, is that she is there to listen to what you say and what is on your mind. She will certainly work with you on strategies to reduce your anxiety. Best wishes to you today, AnxiousGirl. Stay well. ![]() -opaque |

I agree with what has been said. therapy is probably bringing up some stuff in you that is challenging to deal with. without voicing to your therapist what you are feeling she is just going to continue on this uncomfortable course and you will continue to be miserable. it is ok to tell her that therapy is making you miserable and anxious. she will not get offended. I tell my therapist all the time that I didn't want to come today. then we talk about why I didn't want to come...lol
