Hi, this is my first time here. I am 17 years old. I've experienced the loss of many close family members over the past four years. For the last two my parents have suffered a rough divorce. I know that I am suffering from mild anxiety. I worry a lot, but for a period of like a week, I kept finding tiny holes in my shirts. At first I thought it was moths or the dryer doing that, but when I went to confront my dad about it, I tried to find a shirt to show him, and all the shirts I before saw holes in were perfectly fine. I don't know what to think of this. I didn't know where to post on here. I'm just asking if anyone knows what it is that has caused this or whether I should be worried or not. I was so convinced that there were holes in my shirts that I actually threw one away. I thought there were at least 6 shirts over a span of several days that appeared to have holes, I can't find any now and neither can my dad.

Hi, weathegeek1331, welcome to PsychCentral (PC). It sounds to me like a product of your anxiety, especially now that you can see there are no holes. Are you seeing a professional for support or in any support groups for your parent's divorce, etc.? I would work on the anxiety and giving yourself space to be comfortable in so you don't run out of options and have to imagine holes in shirts (much smaller/easier/less "important" a problem than dealing with losing family members or parents divorcing!). In other words, I think it is just a symptom of your anxiety (a kind of waking nightmares) but I'm not a professional. I'd go talk to my doctor or someone about what they think/suggest.

Were the holes big?

No, the holes were small, like the size of a grain of rice, but the numbers of them varied. On some shirts it would be 1 or 2, and on others it would be like 20

Could be the kind of fabric. When it has been streached, the small holes would appear. When not being worn the fabric would shrink, and the holes would close up.
