hello. So about 2 weeks ago I started abilify for depression w/ psychotic symptoms (voices) and now I have been getting these times where I zone out for about 8 seconds and I don't notice unless I'm watching a video or people tell me. I heard about absence seizures so I was wondering if anyone has the same thing. I'm 14 male and I will respond to comments. Thanks
Also wondering do most people who have them respond to things like loud noises?? |

now symptoms caused by starting, or being on medications is called ....medication side effects...not dissociation due to adjusting or changing medication solves the problem of medication induced problems. my suggestion is contact your treatment providers they will be able to adust your abilify or change you to a different medication so that this side effect no longer happens. |

I have had two absence seizures. Both times were due to drug over-intoxication. My last one was two months ago. I did "zone" out like you said, but I also had many other symptoms: hot and then suddenly cold chills, pins and needles all over, extreme anxiety (not the same as a panic attack), getting dizzy when watching TV because I couldn't tolerate any sort of movement, deja vu...these were all some symptoms I had right before the seizure. After the seizure, I was very tired and took a long nap.
Did you experience any symptoms I listed above?

I would say that you should tell whomever prescribed this to you about what you've noticed. And let your parents (or whomever is taking care of you) know if they don't already know.

I should elaborate...one seizure was caused by prescription drug abuse...the other one was caused by K2.
