Occasionally, I have a facial tick. It doesn't happen often, but it's kind of distressing when it does! I could be in the midst of a benign conversation, smiling, and all of a sudden a corner of my mouth will kind of turn downward into a frown. When this happens, I normally feel like bursting into tears. I'm not sure if it's a nervous thing or not. Normally, I'll bite the inside of my lip to keep it from quivering. I've always thought this was a strange quirk of mine and have never heard of anyone having something like this.

At times, when I've felt stressed, I've had a tick - a muscle twitching in my cheek. I took librium for it. That helped a bit. Eventually, it went away. I can see how your tick can get very distressing, since it happens while you interact with others. See about getting some medication. Also consider a short course of therapy to help identify what may be behind it. Could be a sign of anxiety.

It could be anxiety related or a med side effect. Or something else. Have you asked your doctor?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk No, I haven't said anything to my doctor. I seem to have a difficult time stating when I actually have a problem. It makes me extremely uncomfortable. It is, in Itself, a problem. |

I'm the same way about addressing problems I have. By the time I feel ready to mention anything I'll realize I should have said it way sooner and then will continue to keep it to myself so I don't look stupid or inconvenience them.
Back to the topic, the left corner of my mouth twitches sometimes when I'm super stressed out so I'd probably say yours is related to stress or anxiety as well. I freak out when I get eye twitches so I totally get how you're feeling and suggest you do try to bring it up to a professional if you can. Wish you the best, Genny! suggestion next time it happens maybe you can look back on the conversation to see if the conversation was causing you to feel sad, or any other feelings that may have made your body physically react but you may not have been emotionally connected to. I sometimes have this problem with both my depression disorder and my bipolar disorder. but I also have this problem with my physical problem called MS (Multiple Sclerosis) facial tics besides mental and physical can also come from medication side effects \problems.. my suggestion would be to see your medical doctor or any other treatment providers you may have. they will be able to tell you why you are having this problem of your mouth drawing down ward and feeling like you want to burst into tears at the same time. |

Your doctor is there to help you. Try to reach out and ask. If you happen to take an antipsychotic medication this is very important as it could be a rare side effect. Take care. |
