I am on 150mg. of Zoloft for intrusive thoughts, depression, and anxiety. The Zoloft helps to alleviate my depression, it seems to help some with anxiety, but I'm sorry to say that, for me at least, the Zoloft has not stopped intrusive thoughts. It does help for some people's intrusive thoughts, though.

Zoloft was the first medication I was on and I think I went up to 75 mg (25mg is the smallest size available for Zoloft - if you don't think it's working, maybe discuss having your dosage increased). It can take up to six weeks to start working, like most psychiatric meds and don't be alarmed if you have other side effects (for example, I had blurry vision for a few days).

I personally never thought Zoloft worked for me (after being on it for several months) but it's different person to person. My grandmother is on it and it works for her.

I tried Lexapro after that and the side effects outweighed the benefits. So then I switched to Prozac, and when balanced out with Buspar it actually helped a lot. I was also on Trazedone (mostly for sleep and depression) and abilify to boost the positive effects of the Prozac.

When on Prozac alone, I had a huge spike in anxiety and intrusive voices and began seeing/hearing things (which may have been encouraged by the medication, not because of it). When I took Buspar to 'balance' it out (and gave it time to kick in), the intrusive voices completely disappeared, I had very few anxiety attacks and my depression became manageable again.

I actually quit all four of those months ago, cold turkey and all at the same time (do NOT suggest this) and now I'm looking to start taking them again. Hope this helps! And remember always to consult your doctor, they can actually be pretty helpful.
Thanks for this!
