Today I was at work and sometimes I use my phone a a mirror. I looked in the phone to check I looked presentable and noticed there were loads of photos of myself that I hadn't taken. These were selfies and I can't have taken them by accident as they were all from different angles and pulling different faces. Some from above, some I was touching my face, some I had my eyes closed, some I was doing something like flicking my hair. On a couple I looked really Angry and evil and my eyes looked terrifying. I didn't take these pictures and yet I could see they were taken the same day as I was in the same place and wearing the same clothes.

I am really alarmed by this.

Hmmmm, are you positive you didn't accidentally take them?

On some phones touching the screen in any spot will take a photo while in camera mode.

Some applications request an awful lot of permissions when you install them. If you read through all the fine print you will see the apps can use your camera, microphone, and read your call logs and text messages. I have found pictures in my phone that I didn't take as well, usually in a folder associated with the offending app. I have occasionally seen strange screens when closing unused applications in the app manager. I would suggest a good antivirus program for your phone, and careful consideration of what apps you have installed.

I really hope this is what happened! Although if so I pull very weird faces over a short period of time!

I have an old phone it's IPhone 4. I don't know if they do this. I thought you had to press on the circle. It's not very sensitive.

I don't see how I could have. I thought I had at first but there was soamy and all completely different. And my phone isn't very sensitive. It's an iPhone 4 so as far as I know only takes pics I you press on the circle.

I showed my friend as she said the same until she saw them and then she said they looked like they had been taken on purpose and that some of them were quite scarey. She joked that I had been taken over. I don't find it funny though. I actually feel quite sick when I think about it.

I haven't been sleeping for a few weeks. I think it's making me lose grip!

Hi and welcome to PC

You mentioned that the pictures are angry, evil and terrifying. You also said you haven't been sleeping for a few weeks. How is your mood? Is it different than it usually is?

Sometimes I get manic when I go without sleep.

My mood has been really odd the last couple of weeks. Last week I felt really irritable to the point one day I had to shut myself in my room as I was so agitated and knew I would just get angry at people for no reason. I was so full of agitated energy I didn't know what to do with it. It was awful. My body was so tense I couldn't make a fist. ....Towards the end if this week I just feel on the verge of tears constantly. I still feel a bit irritable at the same time.

The fact of the matter is these pictures were taken. Perhaps it is how your cellphone operates and that these are accidents - it happened to me. Does your phone make a sound when a picture is taken? I used to have this setting disabled and found I was taking a lot of pictures of the inside of my purse or pocket as my camera would turn on by itself. I did two things: one is I removed the camera app from my lock screen. It thus will not turn on unless I purposely unlock my phone and activate the icon. Two, I enabled the sound on my phone. Do these photos however look like you posed for them? If this is the case you might want to advise your psychiatrist. Lastly, have you noticed other things happening that might be a result of medication? For example, my own short term memory is not very good. I forget I have done things on ocassion myself.
Thanks for this!

I agree with the others. its most likely you may have accidentally taken the photos. on that model the up\volume buttons are camera buttons. I have many times accidentally taken photos of myself or the floor or what ever is around me, just by trying to turn the volume up or scrolling up on a website or setting my phone on a desk or in my lap

suggestion...cellphones come with a locking feature. it is found in the settings. setting my phone to lock after so many seconds prevents accidental selfies\photos and pocket \accidental dialing.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for your reply. Perhaps I is just that I have been more careless due to lack of sleep. I'd post the pictures but don't reay want pics of myself on the internet. I think it's just that some of them were really creepy. I'm gonna show my therapist on Tuesday. I don't take any medication so it can't be that but I do forget a lot of things. For example in my last therapy session I couldn't remember what I'd said and my therapist commented that I was back and my face had completely changed. To which I then just cried. Perhaps I'm just overanalysing things because of that.

I think I'm making too many links between things. My mind is on overdrive. I have been reading into other things too like guy I have been dating was asking if I had seen a film about a woman who had driven off a cliff and ended up in a different town but had actually drowned. I thought he was trying to tell me something about wanting to kill himself or that he perceived me to be dead.

I thinkable my mind is making links about the selfies because of what my therapist said to me last session about having met the other in the stairs.( I had no idea what stairs he was talking about.) and that I was back and my face had completely changed. These all seemed a bit much and I felt a bit traumatised by it. I think maybe lack of sleep and this has made me read too much into things including the selfies and made me a bit paranoid.

My mind keeps making links with everything. I need to slow it down somehow.
Thanks for this!

Thankyou for letting us know you are on top of this. Seeing your mental health care provider is a smart choice.
