Hello everyone, my name is Frankie and I'm wanting to know what people think about the way I was toilet trained to stop wetting my nappy.. when I was 2/3 years old my mother lit matchstick and burnt me on bum with it and apparently that stopped me wetting my nappies I'm 39 years old now and not really sure how I feel about it I never had much of a relationship with my mother as she was not very maternal, but do spend quite a bit of time together.

That sounds like abuse to me. Nobody should be subjected to that. You are right it is bad toilet training.

I never heard of anyone else doing such a thing. I'm sorry that happened to you. That's just awful.

That was abuse. That must've been traumatizing.

As horrible as this is it wasn't uncommon - at least for the generations before you. To hear of someone as young as yourself to experience this is a bit surprising. I'm guessing she experieced this herself. It's a holdover from Victorian and Edwardian times.
