I went to my 4th different ENT yesterday. I had tubes put in after going deaf in June. In 1981 I had a mastoidectomy on my left ear. The first ENT said To back to the Dr. Who put them in. The tubes were clogged and he had put the left ear tube through a hole in my ear canal. I couldn't do that because of Ins. The next two said they were fine. I played Dr and put some mineral oil on a q-tip. The tube was covered with what ever it was wax maybe. Poof my left ear canal was gone. It went down where the mastoid bone used to be. My ear formed a new one. I told the ENT this he said it's impossible he said he sees this every now and then that I was psychosomatic and should check my self in. So what do I do?

Hello eyesclosed: I don't really have any advice to offer with regard to this. It sounds like you've just encountering one problem after another with your ears. My health insurer has patient advocates who can be helpful to patients aren't receiving proper care. They have been helpful to me in the past. If your insurer offers this type of service perhaps they could help you sort this all out.

Hi SKeezyks how ru the problem with my ears were made to be difficult by a really sick ENT. This community is pretty small with 3 health systems and the fraternity of ENT's who have made my physical and mental health worse. He put the tubes in through my ear canal into my jaw membrane. I found out when the tube came out. I have a nice health manager. She got my new PCP and ENT in a small town 25 miles away..Still not far enough away..They no I have major depression with anxiety and panic disorder so when he said my ears were fine I said then I must be just imagining this and he made the diagnosis of psychosomatic. I had other people with hesitation look and confirm the mastoid full of gew. My health manager can't see how it could go beyond my eardrum I don't have a ear drums in my ears so how can my ears be okay. So how can you make a eardrum. You blow air in your ear canal with a gas siphon cut the tubes shorter. This is my solution go deaf again. The problem is it comes so fast eventually breaking through my ear drum. Some or most of my family is thinking I need to be put up in the mental health Ward.

If I am reading this right (and I spent my entire youth and young adulthood having tubes in my ears annually), that by having pushed the tube far back enough to have dislodged it you would have perforated the ear drum. If this were to be the case I'm pretty sure you'd be in agony and fluid would be expelling from your ear. Just saying.
Thanks for this!
