Has anyone ever experienced insomnia after having a really upsetting, disappointing day?

Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing
Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I experience insomnia often, even when I have had a good day.

I think it's pretty common to have sleep problems after having a really upsetting, disappointing day because all the thoughts, emotions and adrenaline are still there.

The days events do affect sleep.

Even taking heavy dose of seroquel after stressful day I have difficulty falling asleep. This tends to happen most often, and is directly proportional, to having had a rough day. It is as though I am reliving the day in my head considering every permutation of what else I could have done. If I am particularly anxious it results in the same thing.

If I try to resolve things before I go to sleep it seems to improve things. If I settle myself down (like mindfulness or a 'journey') is seems to cause me to void this trouble too.
Thanks for this!
