This happened a few years ago, so it's too late now. But should I have done something at the time?

I was at this garage sale, my mom was waiting in the car. This guy in his 50s was running it along with his son who I'm guessing was between 17-21. I heard the father say to his son "you go in, and I'll try to get her inside." The son went into the townhouse and then the dad came up to me and said "we have more stuff inside." I got out of there fast. I tried to ignore it. My therapist at the time actually told me she didn't believe me about getting bullied or people acting werid towards me. So I kept it to myself until a few weeks ago when we drove in that area again. Should I have called the police? I just thought once again that no one would believe me. But what if other women were in trouble?

I am currently being evaluated for PTSD for things that happened when I was 13 14 and 17. I told my old therapist and she said "you do not have PTSD. I kept everything to myself, because she said she didn't believe me about anything. I'm really messed up right now, and I have not seen her in 2 years, but I'm still messed up from it. She basically emotionally abused me, and I think it is contributing to my PTSD.

I'm trying to find a new psychiatrist. My current therapist is one of the best I've had. I think an as needed anxiety medication would help a lot. My current psychiatrist refuses to prescribe me one because he says I am doing fine. He doesn't care or understanding that I'm really struggling. I'm also considering getting a service dog.

These people just made me believe that everything is mt fault and to keep things to myself because I'm basically lying. I wish I could do something about my old therapist. I've thought of writing her a letter, but I'm worried she will twist it around and say I'm stalking her or something. I tried writing a review on Yelp, and I got in trouble from her and I took it down. So I think any further contact will get me into trouble. Possibly legal trouble.

Trying to ignore it or to pretend you might not have actually been in danger or whatever was not the best thing to do, imo, but no crime or actual offense had been committed and the police could have done nothing other than to possibly send in an undercover officer to see whether something similar might happen to her.

Same deal there: No criminal offense has been committed and revenge accomplishes nothing for anyone. So, I suggest just sticking close to the one you have now and moving on along in life.

there is no statute of limitations on making a report of suspected abuse or intent to commit a crime. plus if you did make a report on the garage sale people you may find that you were not the only one they tried to get into their home.

as for the past therapist again there is no statute off limitations on making a report of emotional abuse against a treatment provider. to do so you just need to contact your locations state certification/ licensing board for therapists. they will notify the treatment provider that a report of emotional abuse has been reported and that they must attend an ethics review hearing. from there both you and the treatment provider give testimony to the ethics board then they decide whether the charge of emotional abuse happened per state standards....

that said whether or not the findings of the hearing is founded you can heal from it now that you have a good treatment provider that you say is the best they can help you to work on what happened and any resulting problems from it.

I agree with lee. There was no actual crime committed yet, as you left before anything could happen. You did the right thing in getting out of there when you did, and I'd be thankful you didn't get hurt in anyway. Let it be a lesson learned. Don't go back to that man's house, even for a seemingly harmless garage sale.

I know you were probably very freaked out and triggered by the man and his son's behavior, and your therapist was very unsupportive about the how the whole ordeal left you feeling. I'd look toward your current T if I were you, and discuss how the interaction with the man and his son made you feel, along with your old T's reaction to it and how that made you feel as well.

Good luck!

I highly recommend a service dog. Helped me and my family more than anything else.

I second this. Best wishes.
