I am struggling trying to figure out how to fix this part of my life. I have recently realized that I am a very angry person. I can list a dozen reasons why I could be, however I want and need to learn how to let that all go. I have had some not so good relationships including a divorce and I find myself continuously sabotaging the decent relationships in my life(whether romantic, personal or career). I am currently in a not so typical relationship and I am continuously mean to him. When we are alone, when we are out in public, anywhere and it is even worse the week before my cycle. He has recently hurt me emotionally and I find myself using this anger to try to hurt him.. How do I fix this, Where do I look for help? What can I do to stop this cycle?

Hello afeleppelle: Well... I don't really know how you fix anger. I am also a very angry person. And, like you, I can list a dozen reasons why I could be. (Actually, a lot of my anger is directed at myself.) Of course there are med's one can take to reduce anxiety. And therapy may sometimes help. Meditation & exercise may be beneficial. I practice both of these. Unfortunately what I find in my own case is that when the poop hits the propeller I just simply lose it. And I don't know how to fix that. (I wish I did.)

California therapist, Kati Morton, has a video on her YouTube channel regarding anger management. I've watched it. And I'd have to say it's not one of her better efforts. But, then, anger management is a complicated subject. Under any circumstances, perhaps watching Kati's video may be of some help. She may have other videos on this subject as well that I haven't seen:

My best wishes to you...

Hello. Welcome to PC by the way.

The first thing that jumps to my mind is that this could be a reaction to medication. The fact you say this increases and decreases with your cycle suggests to me this could be chemical. I would talk not just to your psychiatrist but your family doctor too. You need to be entirely honest with them about what you are taking - including supplements and natural remedies.

Welcome to PC! I have anger issues too. Bad! Usually when I'm depressed. The rustling of leaves could send me into a rage. My pdoc is trying to fix it. He's using first generation antipsychotics and he might have hit on something with perphenazine. Things seem to be better since it started kicking in. Maybe something to discuss with your pdoc.

A therapist, anger management self help books, anger management classes and medication could help along with what Skeezyks mentioned. Best wishes with your efforts.
