My "friend" A told me I had signs of diabetes, and today my workshop was on diabetes and I had almost all of the symptoms of diabetes, but I also know the antipsychotics I take and smoking cigarettes also cause these symptoms. Tomorrow I'm going in to rule out diabetes, but I am so afraid to do so. Bipolar is bad enough but being diabetes means I have to give up all the food I love and be constantly monitoring myself and pricking my fingers all the time. I'm more nervous about this than I should be. Support, hugs, and prayers would be nice...

I hope you don't have diabetes. I worry about it too. Afraid of test results

Sometimes all it takes is a change of lifestyle not the meds. I'll hope there's no diabetes though.

I pray that you don't have diabetes. You would likely have Diabetes 2 which isn't as severe. My bil and brother have D2 and take a pill for it. I have an ex relative who controls it with diet and exercise. I still pray you don't have it. Best wishes.

Hope you don't have it either. I have it and it's a pain getting the blood sugar levels right. However I don't have a strict diet either; I just have to watch my carbs.

I know it is scary, but type 2 diabetes is largely controllable with healthy lifestyle changes. It is certainly not the end of the world if you have it, and if you eat healthier and exercise more you will notice significant improvements. I hope you do not have it, but if you do, don't despair.
Thanks for this!

It's scary to go through the process, but the doctor treated me very well and knew his stuff. It was one of the longest doctor visits I've had outside of therapy that was also the most beneficial with information. He checked my feet which I was worried about because I thought maybe it was linked to diabetes but turns out it was just severe athlete's foot. I asked him about weight loss and he gave me a pamphlet of classes and told me that if I notified my primary doctor she may be able to refer me to a nutritionist and simply not a dietitian.

I brought a list of symptoms I had and he said the most concerning symptom I had which is also a key factor to diabetes is frequent urination which is why he approved of the blood tests.

I think you're right that if it's a lesser form of diabetes healthy choices could work, but making a lifestyle change like that is very scary to me, but could also be a reason to force myself to live healthier.

That's super good news. You still can look into changing the food you eat to a healthier lifestyle plan so you needed worry about the future. Small changes can have great outcomes.

Glad to hear that. Hopefully you can incorporate some healthy lifestyle stuff in gradually so you'll keep diabetes at bay.
