Whenever my emotions are "out of control" I get the intense need to throw up. I'm not necessarily nauseous but my mouth starts watering and my stomach is in knots and I can't get the thought out of my head that once I throw up I'll feel better physically and I'll be calmer. Less stressed, anxious, angry whatever. I'm a 23 y/o female with no official diagnosis of mental health. Could it be my brain struggling for control or something else?

It sounds like a coping mechanism and could very well be about maintaining control. I'm sorry you have this difficulty. If it continues to bother you, I would encourage you to work with a therapist to overcome it. Best wishes.

My boyfriend has the same .... he's very depressed (bipolar depressive episode$ and has vomited the past two nights. It has happened in the past. He gets emotionally overwhelmed and the vomiting is involuntary. It's like his body is trying to purge his feelings.

Sadly for me it's not involuntary, I lack the reserve to keep feeling this way for as long as it lasts. I think I went a full day once but after that I couldn't take it anymore. I had to go let it happen.
