Often when I do cardio exercise I feel a sense of well-being but then a couple of hours later I start to have feelings of panic. I assume the neurotransmitters that make me feel well-being begin to crash after a few hours and then I feel the exact opposite of well-being. This seems to be more pronounced when I exercise more intensely.

Just wondering if others experience this? It would be really scary except that I kind of know what to expect now and I can talk myself through it. I try not to exercise so intensely that it happens, but it doesn't take much.

Well, I would say you really need to find out if there is a physical issue going on here or is it anxiety. Go see your doctor for a check up, peace of mind is needed here to calm the anxiety. If it's a physical issue, then you'll be able to deal with that. So, please get yourself checked out.

I agree. Please get this checked out with a doctor. I've not heard of this type of situation before. Are you taking any vitamins or supplements before you work out? Sending big hugs.

I take vitamins, but I do it after working out instead of before (it upsets my stomach otherwise). I drink water mixed with a sports drink powder while I exercise. Yesterday I only exercised for 45 minutes, so it wasn't extreme by normal standards.

That is wise advice. My insurance has special copays to encourage annual checkups. I am 50 and I need to get a colonoscopy too (ugh).

Maybe you are afraid of feeling good, thus the panic.

That's an interesting idea, but in my case I actually feel good for a few hours and then I start to feel like I want to cry or like I'm afraid or something. The feelings are mild. I usually just sit there confused about why I am feeling these things for no reason.

Getting active will make my mind more active. When my mind is more active, especially when I get tired in the evening I have an easier time not being able to calm myself.

In my case, tiring myself out always leads to insomnia and often to anxiety. For me it is normal and nothing I can do anything about unless a doctor would allow me more medication to calm my mind.
