what is your true motivation?

a question I was asked recently got me thinking.

someone commented: I don't know how you do it, chronic pain, all these MI issues, lack of sleep, how do you do it?. what is your motivation to keep going?

at the time I couldn't answer, and in a way I still can't- I did eventually give them an answer though.. I told them it was because you only get one shot at life, and you need to try and make it count- no matter how bad things get. their are no second chances

what is your true motivation

is it like mine or is it something deper for you?

My parents died in their early 40's. My motivation is to live my life to the fullest for them. To carry on for them because they didn't get that chance. Also for my kids because I want to be here to give them everything I didn't have (I don't mean materialistic wise).

my motivation to keep going when times get hard is my wife and children. I also have a service animal that makes things a bit easier to handle.

My motivation is simply to continue to be here for my wife. We've been married for 38 years & she has no one else. If she were gone, there would be no reason to keep going. And I doubt I would...

That's a tough one...
Depends on who the question is for. If it's for the guy who pilots the body most of the time I guess he might say that it's about perseverance, honor, upholding good and standing against evil. What else is there except to spread love, kindness and good will?

Thank you for this thread, shattered sanity, and thanks also to everyone who shared a response. I ask myself this question often and I can't say I've got a definite answer but one that pops up frequently in the temporary answer box is that I've got no alternative because I wouldn't take my own life. I keep telling myself that if I build up my support network to include a few good friends then i will be much happier and I guess it is this hope that keeps me going.

What other options do we have? We fight killing ourselves so the only other option is doing what we can to have some quality of life and trying to be a productive member of society.

What is anyones true motivation for life and living? We are born and society tells us how we are "suppose to proceed, do and accomplish before we die."

I always wanted to die and never really strived to live and make a life. Now that therapy as cured me from always trying to kill myself I am now just trying to make enough money to live a life where I have a dwelling to go home to so I can hide as much as I can from society, buy food and pay for amenities and wait until I die naturally I suppose.

My motivation is our trip to New York in July. I am motivated to go to work, and save money. It’s not easy but I just think of the trip I’m fully paying for and it helps me a bit.

Knowing it WILL get nicer outside helps too. I have SAD and it’s pretty unbearable right now. Where I live it’s been 0-5 degrees real temp for over a week.

This might sound strange but my motivation is my future love and life and stuff like that. I grew up and still have not fallen in love. I "hit puberty" a while ago and realized some things about life that I want to perform and tell people about. I'm more than I realized and I know that is not a delusion of grandeur because I always think that I'm nothing for some reason. I just have enough courage to say now that I'm more than nothing and more than what people think of me. I think that I got trapped in some way into believing that I was so nothing by nothing itself! I totally must fall in love and gain some confidence!

So long story short (and a selfish little story), I just want to fall in love and stuff like that. I want someone to tell me things that I've never heard about life and myself and wisdom. I just love these things like short stories about love and an explanation about love which I understand is just that I wanted someone else to tell me their thoughts about it.
