Hi,
I'm 29 and I'm 3 months pregnant. I read an article about a women named Stephanie Arnold having a premonition of dying and she ended up with amniotic fluid embolism. I read that article years ago and it's been stuck in my head. Some days I can push my thoughts to the back of my mind but other days it's just such a long dark day. Takes awhile to pull myself out of it. Doesn't help I keep googling thinking I'll learn something different about amniotic fluid embolism and that I can prevent it. I'm just scared I'll be that one person. I don't want to leave my husband to raise our first baby alone. It really scares me

Anyone feel this way when you were pregnant?

Hi Mrs2017, welcome to Psych Central. Actually, it's very normal to have fears when you are pregnant, I worried a lot myself when I was pregnant. I recommend you stop reading articles about bad things because the best thing for you and the baby is not to stress yourself and worry and fear the worst. Try to embrace the positive and how wonderful it will be to have your very own baby.

Exactly, you are doing yourself a disservice every time you consult Dr Google. You risk wrong and certainly mixed up information. It will also result in some significant rumination which you should try to avoid. I would turn instead to your doctor for answers to your questions and concerns.

Now, as the previous poster pointed out, it is perfectly normal to be scared during your pregnancy. I think everyone of us who has gone through it has had some moments of great fright that have wreaked a little havoc with our minds. In my case I was absolutely terrified as I had a tick encounter midway through my own pregnancy. I still shake at the thought. Thankfully my child showed up perfectly normal and 31 years later shown no signs of any problem. Whew! So see your doctor and relay your worries. I am sure they will say the same thing; that worry is normal.

I hope it's really anxiety not premonitions like one of the articles I read of a pregnant women's fear being a premonition. That's my biggest fear that it is warning but then again if it is then nothing I can do. Trying to enjoy the pregnancy but it is hard some days, literally feel like I'm going to go crazy some days :/
