I am curious if anyone here blogs about their struggles with mental illness. I have been thinking about blogging in regards to mine but I don't feel confident enough about it yet. I know it's not anything interesting and can often be actually embarrassing but it seems like collecting one's thoughts might be helpful. And I thought maybe reading other people's thoughts would be helpful too.

I do and i don't and I do again. I keep swiping the slate clean every so often as my life cycles between stability, depression, and mania. The blogs I maintain are public but the profile information is not my own. It is good to air out what is on my mind in a public fashion. One thing to be careful for though is not to fall into the trap of rumination. It might be good to set yourself some rules before venturing into blogging and online journalling.

yes I have 4 blogs, one is work related co authored with my wife, the 2 others are with website forums related to my physical or mental challenges. the last one is for friends and family to stay in contact and up to date.

I dont find it embarrassing because I do not put online anything that I would not want others to know about, if its something I would not say to the whole world it doesnt get blogged.

I have a blog that I use and dont. I write whenever i want to get things out and post the link to my Facebook. I have no secrets so i post literally whatever I'm thinking about. When I'm not blogging I lock it so it cant be viewed by anyone. My own quirk. But it's always there waiting

Hi Nix,

I have been an active poster in the Psych Central forums for the past 3 years. It's been great, but I want something a little more formalized, that gets greater exposure.

Are you familar with / a member of Project Hope & Beyond? I have mixed feelings about it. The community is far less engaged than Psych Central. However, the site is much easier to navigate than PC, especially on a mobile device.

Plus - they let members have their own blog!

I have applied to be a blogger on BP Hope - another great site - but am not sure when / if they'll ever get back to me.

Anyway, here's my blog site (you have to click "My Blog Posts" on my profile page). Would love to hear any feedback you feel like sharing!

Would you mind sharing the links for these blogs?

I did online journaling for a while on another forum. It was extremely helpful for a long time. The ruminating thing someone mentioned happened though. I got away from it after that.

This is the challenge I face with this forum! It helps to express my views and hear people's feedback. However, I quickly find myself engaged in "analysis paralysis," thinking more about my problems than moving forward.

Gah!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
