I take a bunch of meds: topamax, lamictal, lyrica, klonopin, haldol, benztropine, and seroquel. I have had this happen several times. I wake up in the morning feeling fine then suddenly I see all white like I’m going to pass out and I have to sit down. It’s not low blood sugar. Eating sugar doesn’t help. After a few minutes I’ll try to stand up and it doesn’t help then I sit down again. Sometimes it lasts like 4-5 minutes.

Today it happened and I tried to get up and walk and I couldn’t control my legs and I fell down and hit my mouth on the counter. Luckily no major injury. Swollen lip only and a cut and bruise. Then I had to lie on the floor for several minutes before I could sit up and then stand up. I contemplated calling 911 when I was stuck lying on the floor but didn’t and turned out ok.

Anyone ever have this happen? I know I should tell my dr. I just forget and have never told anyone. It’s very scary.

It could be orthostatic hypotension. I would call your psychiatrist or your GP. They will be able to figure it out fast if that is the problem.

If it is the drunk feeling, I would guess Lyrica.

I think you need your blood pressure checked too..it sounds low and you take a lot of drugs that can impact your heart rate and blood pressure..slowing you down too much..very DANGEROUS.

When I first took klonopin, I could barely walk. It could very well be your blood pressure. Best to get it checked out right away.

It could be your meds or it could be so many other things. Please get it checked out by your doctor.

I cant tell you what this could or could not be in you but in me this was physical. I was dehydrating during the night. drinking water before bed and through out the night helped me.

I've had the white small lights passing out feeling, myself. A couple times wasn't a full pass out but certainly needed to sit/lay down. Meds can be dehydrating. Sometimes, although having a bp check at the drs come out normal it's not to say that bp cannot swoop low in the mornings. And also, how's your vitamin intake? Certain deficiencies like low iron can cause fainting.
Is your doctor aware?

Told my dr and she checked my blood pressure and it wasn’t that low when I was there so she wasn’t concerned about it. I was surprised she wasn’t more concerned.

That seems to be how it goes for me with my doctors as well where dizziness is concerned. I had to smile that you mention the normal bp while at a check up. Every. Time. For me, as well.

My last pdoc went with dehydration. I want to say I have mentioned it to 3 or 4 doctors. No special testing for me on that note.

I had a good one today from squatting down and standing up. I had to stand still and breath a moment, was at a store. While focusing on not fainting I made a mental note that I need to share some medical info with my sons just in case. Having a gameplan/emergency plan would help.
Thanks for this!

My first experience in UCLA'S psych hospital when they were trying to diagnose what was going on with me.....they gave me a med at night & when I got up for breakfast I passed out. For me it was how the med affected my body. I was always horribly sensative to psych meds....glad no need for them & only took them when I was willing to be non-functional
