I read some places that this test is basically useless, i ask because i have always been an introvert with the associated personality traits but i took numerous online M&B tests all of which came back as INTJ.
I genuinely believe this matches my personality perfectly, basically what im asking is, has M&J any relevance or is it debunked as useless? thanks for any replies folks ![]() |

Quote:
if for diagnostic purposes it is used with ....... many .......other tests too. this way the examiner can look at the answers on ...........all............5 or 6 different tests, compare answers and get a better picture of what is going on with someone.... example if I on meyers briggs test mark off always for doing activities alone that one test is going to say Im introvered but if I mark always for dong things alone on MMPI version what have you then thats going to point to a possible. bipolar, depression or other problem depending upon how I answered all the questions not just that one in meyers briggs. there is also the in person verbal questionaires and patient history like their cultural background, religion race physical health, meds that the meyers briggs does not take into consideration... my point if doing the self online samples instead of going through professional diagnostic evals then yes its not a reliable testing. it will only tell you what and how you answered at the moment you did the test but not how you are long term in the way of actual diagnosis. |

I have known a lot of people who find it useful. I think the objections that I have seen are that the people who developed it did not do rigorous testing.
In my 20s I tested as ISTP. In my 50s, as INFP. I think those are pretty accurate. And when people tell me they share a MB type, we usually do have a lot in common. |

MB is a personality test, invented by two people that actually have no background whatsoever in psychology! Like anything in psychology, some research supports it and some say it’s bunk. Generally any kind of test you can do online lacks reliability and validity, and you should take the results with a grain of salt. Also, with personality tests, your results can change constantly, thereby indicating low test-retest reliability.

In one way its useful. I'm definitely an INTP, and I love it. The results really made me happy about myself. I really like personality tests.
![]() On the other hand, it's not perfect. Human personalities are very complex, and it's hard to pin it down. I've had the struggle of finding my result. Once, I was an INFP. Then, I was an INTJ. After a while, I took the quiz again and gave my best answer. I got INTP. In conclusion, I think its just for fun.
