I have about 10 black Fruit Of The Loom T shirts. More then 7 pairs of jeans. Mostly dark blue. Then I wear a North Face hoodie or my one Adidas hoodie.
I do own more clothes but a black T shirt, blue jeans, and a hoodie is kind of my trademark. Along with a pair of black winter boots or one of 3 pairs of Vans. I have started to venture out into colored Levis. I have a pair of tan and medium colored gray but I still mostly wear blue jeans.q I found out that a lot of billionaires do this and its called decision fatigue and it can also be a sign of OCD. I do it mainly just to blend in. Plus grabbing the same black T shirt everyday is a pretty easy decision. I did switch it up today and I'm wearing black track pants and the only gray T shirt I own. Does anyone else wear the same clothes everyday right down to the same brand or color? Why do you do it? |

I don’t but know several people who do. You mentioned your diagnosis previously and in my experience it’s extremely common to wear the same clothes.

I often wear the same clothes for several days or even weeks… partly because some of my clothes are just more comfortable than others and that’s what I dress for, usually.

Pre-COVID: No. Post-COVID: Yes.
![]() No where to go, so no need to change clothes. Also, it's less laundry to do. Less decision making too. And when we had a coin shortage last year due to COVID (what else?), I started air drying my clothes to save quarters. I realized I was doing it out of habit for years, using the dryer. And while the clothes dry, it's not like I don't have anything to wear. I used to be a clotheshorse, buying clothes all the time. But I had places to wear them to. Now, not so. ![]()

Capsule clothing - being a minimalist, owning a few very bland clothing pieces and mixing and matching them to either be dressy or casual. Ex.: All your clothing is black, and you only own 10 pieces are less. I tried to do this earlier on in the pandemic, but I love having a variety. I also have OCD though, but mine is fear of contamination and germs/viruses.
When I'm struggling with PEM from CFS/ME, I will be too fatigued and bedbound to change or shower, so I can go days or weeks without showering, brushing my teeth, or changing my clothes. It's not that I want to do that, but it's that I get that fatigued! When I used to be low on funds for the community laundry room, I had no choice but to wear the same clothes. Thankfully, I'm in a much better place now, and I have my own in-unit washer and dryer. I don't dress up in dresses or skirts, and I rarely wear shorts. My go-to are sweats or jeans and sweatshirts or t-shirts. I have a few nice tops, and a few button-down jean tops, but nothing too fancy. I figured "what's the point" when I am isolating in place for two years now and counting. Pre-pandemic: I had more variety of dressy clothes and casual clothes, and I had more colors to choose from. Nowadays, it's easier to have very plain colors. |

On a related note, this brought back memories of when I was a teen, and if you wore the same clothes in two consecutive days, girls would talk about you behind your back about it.
Girls are catty at that age anyway, and the clothes thing was pretty awful. That was over 50 years ago and I still remember girls saying to other girls, "You wore that yesterday." They would say it in front of other girls, like to humiliate her. Seems especially stupid these days, with the times we're living in now........ Along the lines of wearing the same clothes every day now, I don't fix my hair like I used to do. I sometimes even leave it the way it looked when I got out of bed. Nobody to see me anymore. Same clothes, same hair. Who notices? ![]() ![]()

There ARE days when I stay in my robe longer than usual.

Personally, I cannot deal with wearing the same clothes daily. I get bored.
I've heard Mark Zuckerberg does it though - has multiples of the same outfit. |
