Group Created by SeptemberMorn - PUBLIC

This group is for anyone who is having trouble accepting their advancing years. No age restrictions but I have to tell you that I'm probably one of the oldest, if not THE oldest here on PC. I will be turning 66 next month and I don't like what my body is doing to me. Anyone else having the same problem?

Please! No one who is in a hurry to grow up! :-)

There was a time when I thought the saying: Ewes not fat Ewes just fluffy was funny... *sigh*... now...

...and yet I wouldn't go back, ever!

There is an over 50's social group September and an over 40's group, maybe there could be an over 60's, over 70's, over 80's etc, etc group.

We believe in lots of moisturizer, in the meatime!

ROFL! That's one thing I don't need is moisturizer! At my age, I still have oily skin! ARGH!

A long, long, long time ago, my daughter told me that saying, "ewe's not fat, ewe's fluffy" and I believed her... and I liked it because she used to like to hug me or lay in my lap. My "fluff" kept growing. Now, she's gone. Oh, well!

I'll try to remember it as a tender moment, Hunny... She hasn't spoken to me in 12 yrs.

Here's a pic of her and me entitled "When she used to love me." That's about the time she told me "ewe's fluffy." LOL

Age is a state of mind. The key to good ageing is attitude, exercise, healthy diet and Tai Chi,

Tai Chi? You see a lot of 70 and 80 year chinese folks practicing Tai Chi that never have to see the inside of a doctors office or pop a single pill for anything. The great thing is that Tai Chi is a gentle work out that almost anyone can learn.

September Morn,

Thank you for sharing this photo of more joyous times. We have so many questions. How could anything break this picture apart. This is none of my business.

Going from the most precious gift to being apart must be so devastating. The peculiar things that happen to us as we age should never have to include this kind of sadness.

What is most shocking to me as I age is my 'lack of maturity', at times. I can ask for wisdom and receive it but it is up to me to practice it and when I don't well I am just disappointed with this aging process. There is a delusion out there that all adults are mature all the time. Want to put a rofl here but at times it's down right embarassing.

Well, put one foot in front of another...left foot...right foot...left foot...right foot...

I'm 54 and starting to notice alot of changes already. Especially regarding dry skin. Also, i used to lose weight pretty easily if I cut down my calorie intake and now it barely seems to have any effect. AAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

It's a gentle work-out eh? That would suit me! I've watched people do it in the park. I like that outside idea. It certainly is an option. I live in an area where there are many classes offered in it. I just prefer dance. *sigh*

Perhaps they, Chinese folk, don't use North American medicines so much but they do use mega amounts of Chinese herbal medicines, a few, I have tried.

My first choice would be contemporary dance or freestyle movement, however I see not one of these classes offered in any of my local community centres for people our age. How unfortunate that we have to stop dancing this way . (I don't want ballroom, jazz, hip hop, salsa etc).

Keeping fit (not necessarily at the gym), including losing weight is a goal for me.

This past year, however, overeating probably saved me, in some ways. It's not a great way to sustain ones life as it will actually eventually kill me, if I continue, but I thank myself for this gift to myself for this past difficult season. It's a psychology that I am employing to myself. Here's hoping I can sustain it.

To do it, I am being more mindful of my eating. Feeling my feelings, tasting the tastes and enjoying each bite (or trying). I know what is good for me and what is not so great...years of WW but this time I want to do it without the diet per se, choosing instead to come to the realization that I am full and anything over and above that is eating for emotional reasons only.

On wii, I actually am obese. Omg, I hate that word but for my BMI (I think that is what it is called) but I am 4 years younger in the fitness category. Whoo Hoo! So, to continue to pursue goal of eating without self soothing with it...here I go.

Go to AZ for a vacation this time of year Sept. and you won't have to worry about oily skin. Temps over 110 and humidity -100 shrivels you right up. I have this of good authority.

I went to my eye doctor today for my annual exam, and she said I'd need bifocals within the next 2-3 years. Yikes. I'm only 40. Then she makes the great comment, "It's all downhill after 40" which I personally don't believe for a minute. My 30's positively sucked so I'm going to make sure my 40's are good.
