Rainy and cold -- low forties Fahrenheit a few days ago. Sunny and seventies predicted for today. October!

Wow, SNOW. Awesome! It's around 60 degrees and overcast here in San Francisco. SF is beautiful, but I do miss seasons ("clear" and "foggy" are really the only changes in weather here, with occasional rain and mild temperature changes). Well, you know ( you used to live in coastal CA).

I've never lived anywhere where it snows a lot and the idea of it being cold and snowy outside while warm and cozy inside is very appealing to me.

Hope you're enjoying it! Mike

ADHD,.....interesting.....I grew up in southern California & through most of my married life, we owned a time share condo in down town Jackson Hole Wyoming.....spent several weeks there every winter skiing at the village......I so love Wyoming. Looking back....the many winters when we were out skiing in the -10F temp.....would skii a slope then come into the cafeteria & thaw out the feet.....the numb tingling....ouch. Remember one night we were out walking & couldn't figure out why it was hard to breath.....came back to the condo & had the TV weather on....it was -40F....no wonder my lungs were crackling when I breathed

Remember the first year we bought out condo.....we went there in September....let my parents have the condo & my husband & I went out backpacking in the Tetons.....the weekend we drove home to California, the snow hit......just missed....don't think my pup tent would have been good in the snow.

I loved driving there as I always enjoyed driving in the back country (as far as the roads were open in the winter)....the moose that jumped out in front of my car.....she was strolling along at 2 mph....kept looking back over her shoulder.....to see why I was still behind her...lol. Love the cross country skiing & snow shoeing......always love the winter.......Wyoming in one of the most beautiful states....know it doesn't all look like the Teton county.

I moved from California to Kentucky a few years ago when I left my husband.....I enjoy the winters here too....they are cold....but not at cold as Wyoming....we get snow.....have had it last a week, but mostly just lasts a few days at most......It's beautiful too & works much better for my horses than going from the warm California desert to the ice cold northern states.

We had it really cold last week....& I don't have my heater working yet....they hot wired it for AC at the end of the summer (never used the AC this summer either).....I had to use my room heaters earlier in the week as it was in the 30's already....earliest winter so far.....it's supposed to be a very cold winter...can't imagine it being any colder than when we had the ice storm last winter.

So that's the state of the weather here in KY.

Sitting here with frozen hands......it's 49F outside....& 65 in my upstairs bedroom....but my hands are always cold anyway....need to winterproof my house before the real cold hits....my sweet dogs ruined the weather stripping around my front door, so when the wind blows, it comes right in & up the stairs......have all the parts to fix it with, but when I tried them, it still didn't seal right....need to come up with a better fix....but at least it will be a start....better than the nothing my dog's left for me....lol.

Love going into the basement during the winter.....it's always the warmest part of the house....especially when the heater isn't working. Had a call into the heating company & they never returned my call this week....when I called, they were still out.....have to come up with some kind of fix....but hoping I can actually take the distributor to court & get the right matching heat pump system.....they blew it selling to a non-licensed person....or if he used a license....hopefully I can go after the person whose license he used......but it's winter & the part that makes the switching valvue work isn't working.....will see if they will just hot wire it for the heater or what I end up doing.....grumble......grumble......I am determined to keep my heating bill down this winter.....hopefully no major problems.....room heaters work ok for the kitchen (my dogs) & my bedroom (me & my other 3 dogs)....but it doesn't keep the pipes from freezing in the rest of the house.

Little things I never worried about living in California....but KY has winter which I love.....but need to be prepared.

Someday this house will be fixed.....I hope,
Debbie

We had some snow with big fluffy snowflakes on Friday morning. It had been raining all night so they just melted when they hit. Sure was pretty though.

Today was mild about 65f I think. A little windy but not bad at all. Over all nice day. Though I do think we are in for some wet and cold weather soon I heard.

Yesterday, it was $%&*#@! HOT, HOT, HOT, but that wasn't the worst of it! Because there was a power outtage that lasted 8 hours, obviously I wasn't going to get relief from the a/c or fan! An aging pole just fell over and on the edge of the roof of a nearby building! No one was hurt or driving through at the time, or they would have gotten fried! I heard stories about the stupid garbage truck hitting it, termites, etc. It had been leaning for years, and it looked bad already that it seemed a "matter of time" before it fell, for whatever reason.

Had to keep the windows open even though that let in noise and exhaust fumes from the utility trucks! But closing the windows would be worse, since not even a fan could be used for a breeze.

It is COOLER today, and it is supposed to be even better tomorrow. I HATE HOT weather, and I want it to COOL off and just be comfortable. I don't want to freeze, but I don't want to roast! About 70 degrees is nice, with no more than 40% humidity, and cool nights...like 50 degrees.
Thanks for this!

Here in North Louisiana it's 63 degrees and fair. Later tonight rain for the next few days. During this past month, we've gotten more rain than Noah ever seen!
