I don't drive and walk everywhere I need to be.

I often need to cross a very busy road. This morning I stood for 20 minutes at the pedestrian crossing and not a single car stopped for me. I am sorry, but that is just downright rude.

Absolutely, Sabrina. Perhaps a phone call to the city government is in order?
Thanks for this!

No, sadly in my country that idea is quite moot! The government as well as municipality is so corrupt and inept my call would only serve to make me a laughing stock! That would be if I got to speak to any one in the first place since both departments work on an automated system where you don't get assistance.

I notice this a lot in my area, too.
I always stop for pedestrians. I'm a pretty courteous driver..I stop to let that one single car which is waiting to ease into the long line of stopped traffic at the lights, which seems to really piss off those in traffic behind me, (I just smile).

The pace here has become so fast that everyone is in a huge hurry to get to their destination that they've lost sight of common courtesy.
Even in the check out lines in grocery stores. Anytime someone is behind me who has less to purchase than I do, (especially if they're holding only a few items), I always allow them to go before me...I figure, what goes around, comes around...which does happen, on a rare occasion...lol.

What really bothers me is how no one pulls over for ambulances anymore.
The behavior of the general population here is so rude and self-centered anymore that one don't dare piss another off...for fear they'd just pull out their pistol and shoot you......

The area where my house is....I have to wait to allow cars pass as they will not wait...they zip past so fast that, I really have to pay close attention to traffic, (even though its a residential area).....Grrr.

I'm sorry this happens for you, Sabrina.

The rudeness of people never ceases to amaze me.

I have quite the opposite problem. At the west end of my street two blocks down is the church that the majority of the community belongs to. Across the street from the church is the parking lot for the church that spans an entire block. People cross from the parking lot to the church wherever and whenever they wish. This is a HUGE safety issue, particularly in the winter when the roads are icy and one cannot stop on a dime. The Fire Department and Ambulance (located at the north end of the street) have both complained to the Village and to the Church itself.

The Village painted cross walks in stating that there was “nothing else they could do”. Umm, the police department is right next to the Church compound, how about start handing out Jay walking tickets and tow illegally parked cars. Once the parking lot is filled they park wherever they want, blocking all 16 corners so attempting to turn from a side street to the main street is impossible during services. The members of this church are so bold as to have actually blocked the police garage.

There was a funeral for a very prominent person in our community that happened to be a member of this church. The turn out was so great that people actually ended up parking in my yard. I didn’t like it, but I tolerated it. I absolutely drew the line when someone parked at the end of my driveway blocking me in, and my husband out. I ran outside in my bathrobe (I was getting ready for work) and said “excuse me, you cannot park here, I have to get out.”

So as a driver I would like to thank you for using a crosswalk and waiting for traffic. If you lived here, you could just walk out whenever you wanted. Sorry for the book, but I could go on and on. There are just no manners anymore.

I agree with Shangrala and AAAAA. I'm like Shangrala - I stop for pedestrians and other drivers trying to get into traffic. I agree with AAAAA - I'm been feeling for a while now, that basic manners are being lost/forgotten. Sorry you had to wait so long ((Sabrina))

Doesn't happen here ..... everyone stops for pedestrians .
It was different when I lived in the city though.
20 minutes is a bit much. I would of lost it by 10 .
