Golden Girl, Rue Mcclanahan has died at the age of 76 after suffering a stroke. Rest in peace Ms Mcclanahan.

Only Betty White, aged 88 (and still going strong) is left.

Golden Girl, Rue Mcclanahan dies

Rue, second from right.

Will definitely miss her. She advocated for so many things with a kind heart, humor, and real spunk.

That's too bad.....may she rest in peace. I really liked her - she was feminine and spunky. She also battled breast cancer years ago. Thanks for posting Sabrina.

I found this(which looks like a nudie, but its not - she has a strapless dress on.)

Golden Girl, Rue Mcclanahan dies

It is her as a young woman. What a pretty woman she was! And so she was up until her death.
Thanks for this!

Thank you Sabrina for posting about her. Rue was an extremely good actress and I loved her in Golden Girls. I often watch the reruns for hours and I just never get tired of them. She was a very beautiful woman. It is sad when someone that we sorta grew up with passes on. Thank you again for posting this. May she rest in peace.

Betty White is the only one still alive, what a shame I loved that show.

The Golden Girls was on when I was in my pre-teen years. My Mother loved this show and I hated it....but after a while I started to like it. Now I love it and I realize the amount of talent that all four of these Golden Ladies had and have. (Betty's still with us!!)

Now I love this show and whenever it's on late-night TV, I sit back and watch and feel blessed that I had the opportunity to see these women perform.

Thank you for being a friend!!

Sad...Jean Simmons died in January--I loved her--she wasn't all that old either.

I watched The Golden Girls every week......Now, I still find comfort in watching the reruns.

It's the love and comraderie amongst women that makes me feel good---
Of course the incredible comedy and talent is great--all well timed-

Why can't women be like this in real life?--there's so much cattiness, and cruelty
amongst so many women--hard to trust, befriend ---oh well--bye Rue-theo
Thanks for this!

Still one of my favorite shows, all these years later. I am so glad it's on a zillion times a day

When a college aged friend visited from the UK last year, she was thrilled with the show and we enjoyed watching it together.

I love them all. Bea Arthur was my favorite, as I was a huge Maude fan. But I loved them all and especially enjoyed Rue McClanahan in movies after the show ended.
Thanks for this!

Oh Yes!!! Echoes; I loved Maude--it was a run off of All in the Family-----

Bea Arthur was a great actress on Broadway---funny how so many here loved those shows, and still watch them today----

Kinda like The Honeymooners, or Abbot and Costello, sooo many of the old (wow-they're "old" now!!!) shows are such a comfort when I'm feeling lost.

Sounds like you people feel the same way about them that I do.

You know what?
I was playing on the Games forum; and someone there--(young, I guess) started a thread about naming great movies----

I put in On the Waterfront --you know--Brando!--"I coulda been a contender"--
and they had ne'er heard of it!

Wow--I bonded (she talks about it today-and has TCM) with my daughter when she was little watching all the old movies--Bette Davis, Jean Simmons, Joan Crawford, Gretta Garbo, (of course) Marlon Brando--one of the all time greats!!!--

It's so sad that younger people don't know of these movies--or even the old folk songs whose lyrics are just as descriptive of our society today as they were then.

Sad--------------------theo

Oh I loved the episode where Blanche and Dorothy were being interviewed on TV because they were thought to be lesbians. Soooo funny. It was and is a great show...uplifting role models.

God bless and RIP Rue...

Rose--Blanche thinks they're talking about a "thesbian", not a
Lesbian--and --oooomy daughter is on skype with the baby--it was on Saturday nights--shes 33- she remembers watching it with me---what fun---
Thanks for this!
