I had the tv on last evening and saw that Margo Thomas was on a talk show. She still has a beautiful figure, but when they showed her talking, her face looked hideous. If we hadn't seen her in her prime as "That Girl," maybe she would look okay, but I couldn't watch it, couldn't even listen to what she was saying for being so distracted by her bad plastic surgery. I'm guessing she would still be beautiful if she had just allowed herself to age gracefully. What's wrong with some wrinkles and sags? I am appalled at some of the scary looks of some of the aging stars.
We really do live in a youth obsessed society, don't we?! ![]() |

![]() Another one who looks unnatural is Joan Rivers - even though she's been having surgery since I was a kid lol - it appears like she had some kind of puffing up. I think cosmetic surgery is fine if someone has an abnormally large nose but over doing it, results in a very strange look.

I'm afraid that particularly women celebrities think they'll no longer be popular and get good roles if they look too old. However, I really felt for Michael Jackson. He WAS so hunky at one point. But it's like he didn't know when to stop....

Sad thing with some of these folks is that skin type has a lot to do with how well you take some of these surgeries. And then there are other problems. I heard from a couple of places that MJ had systemic lupus which was a big reason why his surgeries failed later on; what the disease does to the connective tissues is aweful, even before you might realize you have it. The so called "melting " effects and so on are classic for it.
Add to the problem is that managers, agents and actors often demand the type of results that are ureasonable to expect. Good plastic surgery often doesn't leave you looking twenty years younger, if you know what I mean, because that ends up aging badly, you can't close your eyes, etc. ![]() |

Yea, it's very sad to me, as to what a shallow culture we have become.

I was showing a video of art careers to my middle schoolers, and one artist mentioned that he likes to draw and paint hands because they are like faces, telling what kind of work a person has done. I think faces are like that too, but more like windows to the soul, and as we age, it can be even more attractive. Too bad our culture values the plastic over the real.
