Sigh. Daylight savings time ended last night (well, 2am today) for the year. I'm just not used to it being dark before 6 pm!!!

Haha, I was just thinking the same thing, actually... I just peered out the window like. "Well. I Just woke up an hour ago...." Fail. Its alright. I kind of enjoy the darkness, I dont get enough of it sometimes. I'm always trying to shut myself in. xD

I already miss the sunlight as we've been grey and with rain some days. I know in the dead of winter it will be dark by 4:00. Not looking forward to that, especially this year. When I was working, went to work in the dark and came home in the dark. Miserable feeling, not to see the sun. I'm just hoping, for some strange reason, it is easier to deal with this year. Here's to hoping!

I agree it's very hard to adjust! It's only 3.10 pm where I am right now so I've got a couple more hours of daylight. But I'd like more than that! Also, I don't get up early so I don't benefit from the lighter mornings! Well, I guess I'd better get outside and make the most of what light there is left today!!

I love this time of year, as soon as it gets dark I can put on my pj's and not feel like I should be out doing something.

Funny you should say that. My dog seemed to know about the time change; he did not even think to ask for his kibble until the current time, snoozing away, which had me laughing instead of the normal DST time. He just knew.

I'm not trying to be a downer (the stories about the dogs are cute!), but I remember reading that the time changes can be tough on bipolars--and I am feeling somewhat down. I forgot to do the preparation that some folks have recommended that we do to get ready.....Oh, well, as Annie sang, "the sun will come out tomorrow...." Only at a different time! Ha!

I kinda like it, but I kinda don't.... it's a blessing and a curse all rolled into one.
I agree with Misfit13 "as soon as it gets dark I can put on my pj's and not feel like I should be out doing something." but at the same time it sucks, because my body clock responds to sunlight/darkness, so I get tired as soon as the sun goes down, so if I still have stuff to do or somewhere to go later, I sooo don't wanna do it.

Hi all:
Now, here's an issue thats been with me forever! (And I mean forever, I am an almost senior citizen) My mom had a phobia about the dark. As a teenager (and I was one of those disgusting good girls who did what they were told) I wasn't allowed out alone after dark. Which means in December I couldn't go to a mall after dinner. I prayed for spring so I could have a life after school. As an adult, living in another city, every visit with my mother still needed to be worked around her phobias. So we had a wonderful time during the summer (she was my best shopping buddy) but it made for some very difficult holidays. While I never shared her phobias (she died a few years ago) I'm still conditioned to anxiety when it suddenly becomes so dark so early. Why can't we just keep daylight savings time? The concept was designed for an agrarian society where farmers had to be out in the fields at 5:00 AM. (so they wanted it light in the morning) But its so outdated now. Would anybody here object to year round daylight saving time? |

I hate it getting dark early now. I wish it stayed light outside until 9 PM everyday. LOL It's too dreary in the dead of winter. I am really not looking forward to it getting dark by 4.

UGH, it's Thursday & I still haven't changed all my clocks to the right time yet.....& now I don't remember which ones I changed & which ones I haven't. Looked at my truck clock today & couldn't figure out if I had changed it or not.....then remembered I had.
It's been warm out right after we had a freezing cold week....still trying to get my front porch painted before it gets too cold. I actually pressure washed the wood decking so I can paint it tomorrow...have been letting the wood dry for several days before actually applying the deckscapes painting/stain to it. It was strange feeling because I did the pressure washing after getting home from trail riding on Tuesday & after falling off the horse I was riding.....it felt like 10pm when I finished & walked in the house & it was only 6pm......took a shower & fell into bed....only to be woken up by my phone at 9pm......thought it was already the next morning, but it was DARK. Hate it when my sense of time gets all messed up like that. I remember coming out of a coma many years ago & not knowing whether the sunlight was was 7pm or 7am.....that same feeling of being disoriented is what happens to me with the time change. Only plus about it getting dark earlier is that I quit working outside earlier when it's warm enough to work outside. I hate during the summer when it's light until almost 10pm......by the time I get inside & settled it way past time for bed & I haven't even eaten. Guess over all, there isn't any method of time that is really the best or the worst for me.....but I am definitely NOT A MORNING PERSON.....I hate getting out of bed in the morning.....& never can function well before noon no matter whether it's DST or not. My american eskimo dogs bark at me for food whenever I come into my bedroom....haven't noticed that they were really aware of the time change or not.....they are just always hungry.

Down in Oz we've waited all year for this! We started in Septemeber with daylight saving and it is such a blessing. I would get depressed with the sun going down at 5.30pm but get this, with daylight saving it doesn't get dark til 8 or 8.30 pm. So how do they get the sun to play THAT game? turning the clock back one hour but getting 3 out of it...I know its to do with the orbit etc so no one jumping on me please I was just having fun...
![]() I reckon we should just adjust the clock all year round for daylight saving and it would cut depression rates by at least 1/16 world wide; there'd be less road accidents, mums/moms would be happier getting home in daylight and not having to work on til dark to cook dinner...hmmm...maybe we should start a poll then pass it on to the governments to see what gives...farmers wouldn't be too happy though and their lives are hard enough...

I'm definitely dysfunctional with this dysregulated feeling I'm having on the change of time. Interesting, during the summer, it stays light until almost 9:30pm as I find myself working out in the yard until way late......at least when it gets dark early, I don't push myself to work any later than when it's dark......wooo hoo. I don't usually get myself working outside until later afternoon anyway........3 hours less working time.......I can deal with that, but the cold that comes with the early dark, I can't take well......shivvering already.....don't want to turn on the heat until December but it's already freezing outside
