Does anyone know why fingers wrinkle when they're NOT wet? I understand the chemistry behind them doing this when in the shower or pool, but the past few days my fingers have been pruney like I'm swimming but I'm not. Has anyone else had this?

Good question, thanks for asking. I wonder, too. Mine do the same.

I wonder if it is dehydration? They say most people are dehydrated and don't know it, so that makes me wonder about that. And I know it is true for me, that I tend to get dehydrated often or easily or something. Which may be related to my hypothyroidism.

I did read about thyroid problems but my thyroid has been checked like a dozen times and nothing is wrong with it. I would have thought dehydration because I did have a few beers the other day but the next day I woke up and immediately drank water and was drinking water all day. And normally I get a headache when I'm dehydrated. I'm sure one of my fellow grad students will have an idea....they know everything after all

They basically said the same thing as you about possibly being dehydrated. Normally I wouldn't pay attention to little things like this but since starting my epilepsy meds I have been looking closely at anything that could potentially be from my liver or kidneys because this med has been shown to cause both liver and kidney failure. I'll talk to my neurologist next time I go in which in in a couple weeks.
Thanks for this!

Thanks. Glad it is not just "age", but that may be part of it for me.

Wishing you well with your neurologist visit

I think it might have to do with oil/low fat diets. We need a goodly amount of goodly fat in our diets and I think some people think all fat is bad and try to get rid of as much as they can, regardless of where it's from/what it is, etc. Ask me about constipation and fiber, go ahead, LOL!

I like the idiot Wikipedia information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wrinkle_(skin)
