Not sure where to post this.
I was feeling down today so I treated myself to a fancy type of coffee beans (don't usually buy the fancy type). They're terrible! Sort of sad ![]() ![]()

Hi Elana. Sorry you're disappointed with your coffee beans. Personally I would take them back. I have often made purchases that I was not happy with afterwards and I always return them. Sometimes the store says no (depending on what it is) but 9 times out of 10 it goes ok. Just the other day I bought some expensive face cream at Macy's and when I opened it and tried it, it felt much thicker and greasier than the one I'd used before. I looked and saw that I had bought the cream for dry skin by mistake. I was worried the store wouldn't exchange it because I'd already opened and used a bit of the cream, but they did.
Anyway, I do think it's always worth trying to take something back if you're not happy with it. Good luck!!

Yes, I'd take them back as well. Just say they don't taste good!
A choice like you made, well, if it were me, it wouldn't bother me much because anytime I try a new product there's a 50-50 chance of me keeping it. If they advertised otherwise, like for your purchase if it said "sweet & smooth" or such then I'd be angry that they misrepresented their product (or had a rare goof package?) If the product broke or fell apart, even if I bought it at a discount store, I'd take it back and hope I wouldn't run into much more of that. If it was a choice I made without checking the facts of the product, etc, then I would feel stupid. ![]() Anyway, take the beans back, no guilt! Sorry for the hassle though..and the disappointment for that cup of coffee!

Not only will you get the money back if you return them, its great feedback for the store you purchased them from that they taste bad.

Recently I was feeling a wee bit manic, and bought (of all things) a ukelele from amazon. Not quite as daft as it sounds, since I can actually play a uke quite well... but still... And unfortunately it's about a quarter of a semitone flat. Which drives me mad...
However, most people wouldn't notice that, so I'm going to give it as a pressie to the church's play group, and let the little kiddies bash the tuneless thing to death. Next time, I'll try one out in the actual shop so I can tell what I'm getting before I buy. My advice... NEVER by a musical instrument without playing it first. You never know what you'll get.

It's silly... But I have been worrying a lot about money lately and this felt like something nice for myself - then, well, bad coffee sure tastes bad. ![]() Elana

If the store refuses, contact the company directly. Sometimes the store wont take it back but the company will. Or at least, give you coupons to try a different flavor. I wouldn't feel bad about that - because sometimes in ALL products there is a fluke bad bag, something that didnt get processed right - or maybe its just not something you like or maybe they just have a pee poor product

Hahah. Coffee beans.
To be fair, this is serious business. I'm hella picky about my coffee. So. Sorry you got a crappy bag. Funny enough, this is one of my major coping flaws. If I'm down or stressed, I go out and make massive purchases. (In one case, I spent over $1,200 in one day)... So I'm often dealing with the regret of making a stupid purchase. But when its something semi-small (below $100), often times I'll try and think of someone in my life who would like it and send it as a gift. By brightening someone else's day, it brightens mine as well, and then in the long run I don't feel too stupid about buying it. If you know someone who enjoys coffee, you could put the beans in a decorative treat bag and do that. But yeah. If you're seriously strapped for cash - a refund should be acceptable. You're probably not one of those people who returns things constantly and should be just fine in that instance. |

Most stores will take most things back and maybe if not get your money back, let you exchange for different kind of beans? I'm pretty picky on my coffee too so I would be very disappointed to get bad coffee -i'd probably have my husband return it for me

I used to get really nasty to myself about it, beat myself up, etc. now I don't. I usually can't get myself together about returning things, but then I discovered thereis always, always someone around me that really needs what I have bought so carelessly. So, that stupidly expensive pair of boots that were too small fits my undersized motherin law with Reynaudsyndrom WONDERFULLY, the communting jacket that pulls on my shoulders looks like it was sewn for my colleague who had her coat stolen on the train. Etc. My plague is someone else's answer to prayer. That actually feels kind of good.

I'd take them back too, the worst they can say is no but at least you will have let them know and have tried. And if they do say no or in addition to returning it, I would contact the manufacturer to let them know. Unfortunately/ fortunately they may send you a coupon/gift receipt for another bag, perhaps it was a bad one or just their flavor but they should know.
The only time I feel badly about a purchase is when I go on a spending spree out of budget. Then I feel slightly guilty if I have to return it, but as long as it is within store policy, it ends up ok in the end. A bad product, no hesitation and no ill feelings about this as all sorts of things can go wrong in a manufacturing process; they need to know about it. I hope you find a better brew!! |

Elana - I would have said what everyone else has - so I'll just ask that you let us know what happened when you took the beans back.
Hope you're feeling a bit better now.

Tishie; when it cmes to house cleaning, i have asked myself if one can take the hubbie back to the manufacturer. Hmmmmm. Fat chance. I'm sure she'll find a way to say the guarantee doens't cover it
