I think it's the moon....or it is something else...that'd be way worse.I have never seen something like this before. It looks like a black circle with yellow peeking below?I don't have any idea what that is.Is it the moon? Please answer?

It's too cloudy outside for me to able to tell you for sure.
It sounds like a crescent moon, nothing wrong.

What's wrong with the moon?

Something like this? This is a crescent moon at night. Beautiful!
Thanks for this!

The crescent (if I remember college correctly LOL!) is created by the shadow of the earth blocking part of the reflection of the sun off the face of the moon. Some times it is darker than others. All part of the lunar cycle.
As for mold... it always seems to prefer warm dark spaces

Oh for the love of cheesy fried onions...

I have had a really odd experience with the moon today... I talk about it in the thread "God help me"... Sadly I know my experience was a hallucination, but I just find it too weird that someone else was freaking out about the moon tonight...

urghhh

How about a vivid tangerine orange, somewhere between orange and blood?

Tonight I looked at the moon...

It was the thinnest and finest crescent moon I think I've ever seen. And, since I'm down in San Diego, CA, the marine layer was blowing through and you couldn't really see the Earthshine...just this thin, misty crescent teasing us with a game of peek-a-boo.

It was hauntingly beautiful!! I LOVE the moon!!

Yes I think it's been unique - my youngest said to me yesterday - "oh wow mom, you should see the moon". To bad I didn't look, I was busy. I hope it will be clear, to see if it's looking the same tonight.

In the summer and fall I notice the moon can be orange. I don't know what they call it...think it might a 'harvest moon'.

When you see the shadow of the moon cradled in a new moon like that it's called "old moon the arms of the new". It's meant to indicate cold weather.

its a lunar eclipse, the earth is blocking the sun from reflecting off the moon! place a football on a table to your left, this represents the moon, hold another in your left hand at the same level this is the earth, now shine a torch onto the earth from the right hand side! it is a simple but effective representation of an eclipse.
lunar eclipses happen pretty frequently and last for about 5-10 minutes until the earth moves a bit. they are more frequent than solar eclipses where the moon blocks the sun from shining on the eareth but because they happen at night they are not noticed as much

Oh, I'm so sorry, wolfsong. Same here. I wouldn't have written it if i had thought it would hurt your feelings. I know you aren't anywhere near dumb and thought you might get a laugh out of it. I'm glad you said something though. it's better to come out and let people know when they do something dumb (like me just then) then go around feeling hurt.
Again dear. You're not dumb. I was just hoping to cheer you up and it sounded wrong. Forgive me?

Of course. And I felt conflicted on whether to post it.My circumstance has me collapsing here psychologically and I was sensitive.I am sorry as well.I appreciate the replies.I was having a horrific day yesterday, and was over-reactive to absolutely everything.I wreaked havoc in many areas. Please forgive me.(I had never seen this display in the sky and thought worst case scenarios of it.)~W~I apologise as well.

(((Wolfsong)))

You can also look at the "best case scenario." It almost looks like the moon was providing you with a little light along your path, as it smiled at you. If it means a cold front is coming, maybe it was just a friendly reminder to keep a jacket or blanket handy.
Thanks for this!
