Car enthusiasts like me have long worried that enviormental concerns would eventually turn the automotive landscape into a sea of "politically correct" super efficient but very dull boxes.

Thankfully though, it does not have to be this way. Thanks to a former BMW designer, The Fisker Kharma EVer has emerged to combine an extended range electric set up, high dollar luxury features, and a gorgeous exterior into an awesome package. The car has now gone on sale to those who have preordered.

This may end up being the "Apple" of the automobile industry.

Test Drive below.

we are used to seeing.
It looks really cool!

them to look like this, what a relief!-- it's great!

As with most sophisticated engineering it is marketed toward the upper in the market, this paticular car starts at 85K. Largely becuase Fisker is a very small carmaker, he does not have economy of scale to work with.

The Chevy Volt, which came out this past year uses similar technology and retails at 40K, with an available 7500 dollar tax credit that drops things to around 33K, still steep for what amounts to an econobox with an exotic drive set up.

Just remember less than a decade ago large screen plasma tvs went for 7 or 8 thousand dollars, now they can be had for around 500 dollars.

as more and more EVs and PHEVs hit the market, the overall cost of making them will fall and they will become more affordable.

Word in the industry has it that Mitsubishi Motors will be switching over to all electric cars in the next few years. With an economy of scale like that, prices should be coming down. Word has it that they will even be discontinuing their best model, the EVO. The corporate change will be that radical. Also, another GM division (either Cadillac or Buick) will be marketing an upscale version of the Chevy Volt.

Sure it's a nice looking car, but I'm very sure being a BMW it's sky high for sure - there is no economical BMW lol. We have a BMW and it needs some new brakes and a new alternator -this will cost $3000 and we can't afford this, so we have one car ATM. The parts for BMW are ridiculous and you can't cut corners. I'll never buy another one again. Personally I don't mind if a 'green' car doesn't look very fancy. When ever something new comes out, there's also many glitches that happen sometimes. Now that I've had my fun with fancy cars, I now go for the practical vehicles and not impressed with all the prestige and hype.

Is it really? You know, the Volt isn't as electric as they advertised ... how can we trust any of them?

It's a stud magnet, that one though
