January 14th: Tunisian government falls after a month of civil unrest.

February 11th: Egyptian President resigns and Egypt becomes a Military State.

February 22th to March 14th: Libya is used as an excuse for a major oil pricing hike.

March 11th: Earthquakes and tsunami destroys parts of Japan.

March 15th: King of Bahrain declares three-month State of Emergency.

March 17th: The UN declares a no-fly zone over Libya.

March 19th: The French recon Libya.

April 11th: Former President Gbagbo is arrested and a new president is sworn into the Ivory Coast with the aid of the French.

April 29th: An over-hyped, boring wedding is watched by tens of millions of people with nothing better to do.

May 1st: President Obama declares that Osama has been murdered.

May 16th: The EU bails out Portugal.

June 4th: Another volcano erupts in Chile, forcing many to retreat.

June 12th: Syrian troops lay siege to an important Syrian trade route, forcing many refugees to escape to Turkey.

July 7th: The first artificial organ transplant is successful with the aid of Stem Cells.

July 9th: South Sudan becomes a country, ceding from Sudan.

July 20th: UN declares a famine in Somalia.

July 21st: NASA's space shuttle program goes offline with the launch of Atlantis.

July 22nd: Two terrorist attacks occur in Norway.

August 20th to 28th: Libyan forces take control of the capital of Tripoli and overthrow Gaddafi.

September 5th: India and Bangladesh settle their 40 year border dispute.

October 18th: Israel and Palestine begin a Prisoner Swap, releasing thousands of prisoners.

October 20th: The Libyan Civil War ends with Gaddafi's death.

October 23rd: An earthquake jolts Eastern Turkey.

October 27th: EU declares another emergency meeting, rewriting 50% of Greek Bonds, recapitalizing the European banks, and increasing bail outs to a trillion euros.

October 31st: UN declares that there are more than 7 billion people on the world.

October 31st: UN accepts Palestine as a member. Disputes still wage on as to whether Palestine can declare independence or not (Israel is opposed).

Some other things occurred and a lot of famous people die...

Some ongoing disputes:

-Wikileaks is still fighting for survival and raising funds to fight back against the United States.

-Palestine is still seeking independence from Israel.

-The European Union is still failing, and Brussels is asking for control of some budgeting in the PIIGS, which is not going too well.

-The United Postal Service is asking for another bailout by September 2012 or will go bankrupt.

-----------------
Just a few headlines and things ongoing to keep in mind as you have a wonderful holiday, and just thinking about how much damage that 2011 was and how 2012 couldnt get worse...right?

Hey opopo, .

For all equal bad news there is equal good news for the whole world, like for e.g........

A family finding out they have a new child on the way.
A child being rescued from dispair and abuse.
An adult to find that a child has survived..something like cancer.
A country like Africa (like I said being with water for a change), that means thousands will have water...

Like me, myself and I.....getting my passport, so I can travel.

Opopo, 4 every bit of bad news there is more than equal good news for others (this is what I believe), others may diagree but its I guess a way of perspective upon media - or non mass media.

I try to find good news in my own way, the best news to me this year was discovering Psych Central, and I think to the people who know me say the best news for sanada was finding PC....

It is nice though to know that somebody like you opopo is keeping up with world events (I am losing energy so need to be reminded of whats going on).
TY OPOPO.
