Pffffft.....I don't even KNOW what a duvet is, much less cover one. I AM however, married to a Vet.....I KNOW how to do HIM.

I am also the mother of a Vet....I USED to know how to cover him - til he came home from the war. Those britches don't belong to ME anymore...it's his responsibility now.

So I spend my days fighting with fitted sheets....trying to make them nice, quiet, and available for my Dual Vets.

bb.....any idea where I can find their blankets and pillows? They were here just a minute ago.

They are in the same place as the socks.

I was very young when vets were returning from Vietnam. I would listen to them, sometimes they made no sense, but I wasn't scared. They told me I was a good listener. I think vets need to be listened to, it is very important, I think. I wish I could do more.

Funny . . . I recall the cartoon Cathy and her troubles folding fitted sheets. Oddly, I never found it difficult! Nor is putting them on very difficult. (Though, in all fairness, my mom used to complain about it.) Duvet covers . . . what's the big deal?!!

What I really want the Onion to answer is, can Mitt Romney sing the Osmonds as well as Barak Obama can sing Al Green? Now, there's something all journalists should be concerned with . . .

fitted sheets...it should be so easy...but why isn't it????think about it...put one corner on go to the opposite slide it on & then move around...1st corner comes undone...argghhhhh...

its one of those things that was supposed to make life easier & just makes me crazier...but do i buy the non-fitted ones??? no. (ok just pass me the giant dose of my meds thank you)

& just the plain old osmonds scare me...much less anyone else singing them...& it is me or does marie look like a bobblehead doll??? & i think that she might have had a "facial tune up"...anyone seen the new nutrisystem ads....something looks a little different...just sayin'

is a duvet cover something that slips over like a down comforter to keep it clean? (see i know dogs but not linens)
Thanks for this!

I think in America you guys just have blankets but in the UK, we have this thick webbing like material filled blanket that you put a cover on. Its friggin cold over here at the minute, especially at night so i couldn't go without a lovely big duvet.

okay, the trick to fitted sheets is this: do not put your bed against a wall or in a corner. that way, you have easy access to all four corners of the bed and can easily slide each fitted corner on the mattress. if your bed is already in a corner, then put wheels on it so that it moves easily. (the wheels are also great for easy cleaning the dust bunnies underneath.)

i think a duvet cover is used when you have a down blanket that costs a fortune to dry clean. you place the down blanket in the duvet cover and, when it's dirty, remove the down blanket and wash the cover. saves on the dry cleaning costs and inconvenience. [gee, i never realized what a suzie homemaker i really am!]

yes, marie osmond has had work done. a recent article said she now looks more like donnie than ever. to my eyes, it just looks fake. i don't understand this plastic surgery craze. i especially dislike the plumped up lips. now that that's said and done, i would, however, have lifestyle lift (neck) surgery in a minute! sigh.
Thanks for this!

Yes a duvet cover - its a cover that fits over usually a down duvet - like a giant pillow case. I used to use one on a king size bed and agree its very frustrating. Once I actually crawled inside the cover, trying to get the corners in there lol. Finally folded it, then put it in and unfolded.

frankly, i've replaced my duvet cover with Polartec blankets from LL Bean. They are just as warm and are machine washable. there, the truth has finally been revealed.

Try putting on a fitted sheet with my dog. She thinks , " oh boy fresh sheets," and jumps on the bed during the process at which point i give up and get her a biscuit and me a cup of tea.
Thanks for this!

I agree unhappyguy - I found out the down was aggravating my allergies. I also think people get a better sleep if they're on the cool side. Are those blankets expensive?

Cats do the same. And watch out for those claws!

Do fitted sheets get that way from diligently exercising?

they do...those other no fitted ones..they are slackers.

the fitted ones are so hard to get on the bed because they do it on purpose to remind us that they are so fit & that we mortal humans are slackers as well..if we were as fitted as our sheets we would have no issues installing them.

polartec blankies are nice....just saying ...my favorite putting them in the dryer for a quick minute or 2 & then running right to bed with them..toasty! (that's how i justify my fitted sheets...see i RAN!)
Thanks for this!

I hear **** and Jane RAN too....along with Tom and Harry. How many votes did you get?

I take it you WON the prize....a highly technical Polar Bear blanket that keeps you warm. Good luck with that. I wouldn't keep it in the dryer too long though.....I hear those bears can't be trusted when they're hot - or hungry.
