Mine is pretty obviously just expression of certain attitudes in my life (together with my status update and member status/badge thingy). Krishnamurti is a classic... and the one about nuclear weapons is a modification of a stickers that were all over my hometown back when i was in high school. I kinda adopted the motto, being a "crazy" student of international relations and all.
I do like to see problems on societal level, me being crazy in overall crazy world (they are just weird in different ways than I am). So I am not saying I don't have any problem by my two signature lines, but rather... that the societal standard of normal is not what I aim for, because it is pretty twisted to begin with. I don't really blame society for making me the way I am... but I don't see it as a bad thing that I do not fit in. so what is a story behind your signature line(s) and images?

My signature has my beautiful dog Bella - she's the best dog and light of our lives. I also answer questions in the Q&A section - I enjoy this very much and its turned into a passion for me. It has also given me a diversion and probably kept me sane lol. Lastly I have a line from the song by Christina Perry "Jar Of Hearts" and I relate to this from my marriage problem. I look at cheaters who collect broken hearts in jars.

My signature is both literal and figurative. For almost everything in life that you intially feel is negative can be turned into a positive. And without challenges in life we do not grow as people. As with actual rain, the grass, and most flowers, crops and so forth would not grow if it did not rain, and you can still enjoy a rainy day there is beauty in everything!

Considering the character of Richard and the message portrayed in his quote, I think it should be apparent.
But for those unfamiliar with Richard, it's just a fancy way of saying "wolf in sheep's clothing"... The second quote means, "We are but dust and shadow." It's from Horace's Diffugere Nives. |

The butterflies symbolize metamorphosis and the beauty that comes pains of change.
The quote is a personal reminder for me that if I hide, shrinking from the world, then things will remain static and unchanging. If I have the courage to take that next step and try new things, and the courage to change, then a whole promising world of possibilities open up that would not have been there otherwise.

Mine is lyrics from the song Black Irish ~The Devil Makes Three. I chose it because of how I feel about life right now.

Mine means to have every thing line up, what you say, do, think... Parallel. Being congruent, authentic. I covered this topic in therapy and it really helped me. I do think it is one way to achieve happiness. I put it there to remind myself, it's easy sometimes to slide and let things get out of line within yourself, pressure to conform, and I need reminded from time to time.
Venus, just remembered how you feel about happiness, I think you and I have a different take on that word, so I'm going to use the word peacefulness, or harmony. Just inner peace. Last edited by Anonymous32507; Mar 16, 2012 at 10:38 AM. |

Joseph Campbell who was the authority on various mythologies, talked of stories throughout the ages and from all cultures that had the "hero" go out into the darkness (or cave) - The Hero's Journey. Ultimately, our hero finds wonderous things (even if just inside themselves, like courage) in the dark caves or forests.

first part, favourite quote from a great writer and it's mentioned in my favourite movie, second one is Ned Kelly's famous last words (apparently, sources do differ) and I think it really sums the man up who was a hero for the working class people of his time.
