Thinking of you, Tink. With tears, we honor those we love when we lose them. How terrible that some souls leave this world and are not missed, or cried over. I'm glad you had a mum worth missing. In time you will honor your mum with gentle smiles. That time does come, even for children who've lost the the very best mums. Actually, you don't know it yet, but those children end up with the very warmest of smiles. At least, that is usually how it does work out. "Usually" is pretty good odds, when you think about it. Usually means almost always. We're only really lost when there is no one left who needs our love. Doesn't sound like you'll be in that boat.

Thinking of you has put a tear in my eye, mainly because there is no way for me to explain how the miracle of getting through grief happens. No one can really explain it. It is like a miracle. What astonished me the most was how the sense of utter loss did get replaced by something good. It truly is that amazing. I wanted someone to assure me of that when I lost my mom . . . that it was possible for life to become good again. It truly is.

At first, what is most important is for others to let you know that they do understand how painful a loss this is. I was so grateful to extended family who helped in that way. I hope you are hearing from people who knew your mum and can understand. I mean, besides your immediate family. Let them spend time with you. It won't even matter what you talk about.

Love, Rose
