Today I am really struggling, and feel like giving up, ususally when I feel like this ill have a very long phone chat with my best friend, we'll talk about all the things we'll do when we live next door to each other again (friends moved away) and things we'll do when were old, we'll chat for ages about how we'll do lots of pubs crawls (because weve misplaced our mobility scooters) and eat chinese and visit lots of amazing places. It always makes me feel better and gives me hope. What do you do to make yourself feel better?

Hello, Tina10. I try to do something I have put off but can do. Sometimes, I subsequently get motivated to do more.

I wish you well.

I usually try to read and escape through the stories. I avoid people because it's just too much of an effort to act normal. My husband stays busy and leaves me alone because he has learned I'll tell him if I need him, otherwise, I can get quite irritable.

Some healthier stuff, others not so healthy - wasting money tends to be a big one. I have impulse problems which doesn't help. Most of the time i just try and transport myself...so if that means getting lost in a story or listening to music then sometimes that's enough. But yeah, other times my emotions drive me to more stupid behaviour.

Yes, reading works well for me too, I love getting lost in others stories, and pretending my reality doesnt exist for just a little while. I often find I get way too into watching series after series of what my partner describes as "mind numbing crap" haha.

Then if all else fails I tend to do what valshia said. Pizza hut now know me on a first name basis :/

Dominos know me as the girl who won't open her door all the way and then quickly snatches food off the driver.....guess my agoraphobic tendencies really don't hold me in good stead :/

Btw, i have a British social group that was started to discuss our own issues with healthcare over here but now we have our own dedicated forum the discussions are more general. I'll send you an invite and you can check it out if you like

I also call a friend, go visit and try to just chat and forget about how bad I'm feeling. Other times I just take a whole lot of calmatives and sleep all day.

It's really weird that if you omit one routine in your daily life it can completely throw your day off. I've heard a number of people (even this morning on the radio) that say if they don't exercise their day goes to hell. (I'm the same way.) I heard Martina Navratilova in 2006 say this in an interview: she said that if she doesn't exercise she feels crappy all day.

Focus on getting through it?

1. Guitar.
a) practice pieces
b) learn a new piece
c) go over some pieces I like playing
d) improvise, typically blues
e) look for new tableture

2. Computer
a) chat to people
b) come here
c) harass my brother with my problems. :\ Haven't done this in ages, because we barely talk - he's not chatty, anymore. :\
d) watch funny programmes, like the Big Bang Theory.
e) play Terraria and/or the above.
f) type out my diary entry for the day.

3. German
a) study
b) practice
c) practice + simply chat with my German friend, or other German folk

4. talk to my dad

I need to do some of this stuff, but it's too late or I otherwise can't.

I just relax and slack off. I know myself well enough to know my "work" will get done well enough in a timely enough manner, that if I don't make my bed today I probably will tomorrow, that sort of thing. I just kind of accept that I'm having a bad day for whatever reason, try to reconcile myself to the bad parts and do the "tomorrow's another day" dance :-)

Zwang, I just love this show

It's the only show that makes me laugh.

I, also, read and sleep, both a manner of trying to turn off my brain. I also listen to CD's by Echart Tolle and Joyce Meyer.

VENT on PC if I have access to the computer. Otherwise, a favorite TV show, a good book, a hot shower, and a heating pad (if weather isn't too hot) all soothe me. BBT makes me laugh so hard, I sometimes start "tearing up", LOL. Also, reruns of All in the Family. I've seen every episode dozens of times, and each time I laugh till my stomach aches.

My favorite music: Classic Rock. It brings back good memories, plus I love the music anyway.

Sweets help. Yeah, I know it's bad....But I reach for chocolate, cookies, ice cream, etc. Sometimes just one of those things, sometimes all, LOL.

I also try to avoid neighbors, who always say cheerfully, "How are you?" when they don't give a **** as we know.

Reading's a big one for me, especially for books that really suck you in and are super interesting. So is listening to cheerful music and telling myself it's not so bad. Chocolate milk boosts my mood pretty well. Sometimes doing some baking help too, which is also practical. Writing out feelings helps. Lastly, watching very funny or even very scary things can pull me out of any bad feelings sometimes.

I could probably say a number of things like listening to music, playing guitar or piano or writing songs but the one thing that makes me really happy when I am depressed is spending time with my daughter (Tori) who is going to be 2 in September and just watching her, playing with her and talking to her and puts a smile on my face.

Let's see

1) remind myself that everyone has crappy days, not just folks with mental health issues
2) remind myself this will pass (this one is not always effective)
3) spend time with my kittens.
4) watch some nice mindless television
5) read. I even have some favorite go-to books for when I feel like life sucks
6) call a friend a vent about the day
7) isolate, yeah I know this is not supposed to be good, but some times I need to shut the world out for a few hours
8) like someone said, some times I need to just give in, say "this day sucks". I give myself permission to feel rotten for awhile. I do put a time limit on wallowing so I don't get stuck in feeling sorry for myself.

I watched ASMR videos, watch self-help videos on YouTube, and try to find something to laugh at/about.

I either talk to one of my parents, my cousin (if my parents aren't listening), or a friend on Skype (but lately things haven't been going good between us). If no one is there to talk to me, then I just look at pictures of my favorite people, or at least daydream about them (archangels Michael and Raphael).
