US residents, please remember to vote today, regardless your party affiliation or stand on policies. We are privileged to live in a country where we have the right to elect our leaders.

Done! It's done by mail where I live, so I mailed my ballot Saturday. Yes, I'm so happy to be done with the advertising deluge and the robocalls!!!! I've been getting 4-5 automated calls every day.

I wish I'd done that. The lines are so long here. I voted early in 2008 and still had a 3 hour wait in line. I'm not sure I could handle that ATM. My vote won't be missed in the National races but the local and state races are competitive and I'd really like to have a vote in those.

I moved recently to Idaho but voted via absentee ballot for Florida. Probably a good idea. Idaho is pretty much decided while Florida is always a battleground.

![]() This is looking like a it has the possibility of being a strange election. I've been reading stories about ballot tampering and malfunctioning touch screens and polling places opening late. I just read that robocalls were made in error over in Florida telling people they have until 7pm tomorrow to vote ![]() |

Barring a surprise, I don't think (I hope not, at least) we'll have to wait a month to get results this time around, but your comment took me back to the 2000 election, when it did take a month to decide the winner. What a nightmare that was! Thanks for jogging my memory.

I voted! The lines were slow. The U.S. needs a better way to cast ballots.

I just read several articles about attempts to suppress voting in some states. I hate to get too partisan, but the voter suppression laws have been a common practice used in some precincts in order to disqualify folks who trend towards voting Democratic. I've read several articles about voter suppression in Florida, Georgia, etc. Such tactics are a black mark on the name of democracy.
Another beef of mine against our system of voting is that elections are always held on Tuesdays -- a day when a majority of people work. When I was living in Germany elections were always held on a Sunday -- a day when a majority of folks have a day off. It seems that holding elections on the weekend makes democracy more representative. ...Now I'll get off my soapbox. ![]() |

A zillion thumbs up, lizardlady! I love to vote and took the day off work today and tomorrow to vote, and then follow the election results coverage. (Probably will take till Christmas to get an official tally, and even then maybe not undisputed, but I am hopeful !)

Not only did I vote absentee, but I worked the absentee office and worked a poll. Busy busy busy the last 6weeks have been. Glad that it is over with and I can get back to my regular job.

Enjoying the coverage on many tv stations. I had many students today in school that were able to vote for the very first time and that was a neat thing.

It was great to get out and vote today! Where I live, it was cool but sunny and pleasant. Great day for getting out there.
I was very lucky....I walked into my polling place and there was NO line, no waiting! ![]() Go Voters! |

Exactly why I don't vote. We vote for people we enjoy comparing to Hitler...so why should we be allowed to vote if we don't make it an educated vote?

My husband went out yesterday morning, came back and told me he voted. Because I've been ill lately, he assumed I was too sick to get up to vote. As passionate as I've been about this election, it baffles me he'd even think that way. He told me he'd stop by later in the day and take me to vote. Our polling place was my former grammar school just four blocks away.
I started thinking about all those days I trudged to school as a kid in brutally cold weather, suffering from a cold/flu and/or completely sleep-deprived. I figured if I could do it then, I can do it now. I also thought about all those people who literally fought and died for the right to vote. So I grabbed my coat and purse and stumbled up to the polling station all by myself. Fortunately, there was no waiting. However, I managed to make it up there and back without falling, fainting, or becoming disoriented. The struggle/pain actually felt good - proof that my determination and willpower are still intact. When I got home, I had a real sense of accomplishment. Needless to say, I'm THRILLED with the outcome!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
