So I planned a day in Boston this weekend to visit one of my favorite museums. I planned it so I can get parking outside the city, take the train in for cheaper than driving in, and even got discounted tickets to the museum. All in all, the day should cost me less than $50, including everything!

Is it weird that I want to go alone and explore? In the museum I hope to get one of the head pieces where u pay $5 and u can go around and punch in a code and listen to them explain the displays. I think if I was with someone, like last time, I'd be distracted and less likely to see what I want, mostly art. What do you all think?

I agree with you. Travelling with someone else always involves compromises. You seem to know 100% how you would like to spend the day. That does not leave time for what a friend would want to do. (Unless, the friend is very accommodating or they share the same interests as you.) Though, it is a sign, perhaps, that you need to make friends who share your interests.

Have a great day! I hope it turns out exactly as you want it to!!
Thanks for this!

I've done this a number of times. Of course, that was long ago when I was much less of a recluse.

Exactly.

Edit: Not Boston, but other places.

Doggiedo, I don't know you but that sounds like an amazing day, made even better by being ALONE! There's a few people that I like to do things like this with, but going alone makes it totally for me. Enjoy! (You've inspired me to get caught up on assignments and plan a day like this for myself!)

going to the city alone sounds great, other people do not always wish to spend the same amount of time as ones self on looking at/exploring the same articles, so you would end up not being satisfied, missing bits you really want to see and being bored waiting whilst the other is exploring what they want to see.
going places like a walk through the park or trip to the coast are ok with others but not for places where you have plans to do/see specific things.
any how going it alone gives you something to talk about with others as only you experienced it so it will be interesting for everyone you tell.

go, enjoy , then come back and tell us all about it!

I hope you enjoyed your day whatever you decided to do with it.Boston is a great city for walking around. The last time I went down we parked at the Public gardens, walked to Fanuel Hall, had a nice lunch and sat by the waterfront. I grew up there and still enjoy visiting, except for the parking!

I did go into the city- and accidentally missed the T station tht I was going to park at and take the T into the city. Soooo I just kept driving, turned on my GPS and I parked near the museum. Too bad it cost $28 for 4 hrs! Lol The museum was cool- and I had a blast just looking at what I wanted to! After 3 and a half hours I decided to leave.

I actually had an interview next week at a school right near the museum so I poke around the campus for a little while. It was nice but I was also realy lost- several times! It was kinda scary and really cold. I am kind of rethinking the interview as I would have to relocate and live either in the city or right outside. Huuummmm, decisions, decisions...
