Just wondered if there is a forum where questions can be asked and answered as to the meaning of life.
For example:

Does God exist?
Do you believe in reincarnation?
Have you lived before?
Why are we here?
What makes you think God exists?
Are we damaged in this life because of past life experiences?

Or do we just put questions like the above on general social chat? I would like to have the chance to debate these things, but would like to do it in the correct forum or group.

All replies gratefully read

Okay....I feel the need to explain the "inside" joke for those who don't get it. Call it the school teacher in me. Mr. Dent's name is the main character of a book series by Douglas Adams called The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It was made in to a movie a few years ago but I believe it bombed. The answer to life is 42....but they are in a never-ending quest to find the question....and if you should leave home, don't forget your towel. My favorite quip is how to fly. You jump off of something very high and forget to hit the ground. Anyhow, I severely digress and apologize for hijacking your serious thread...he started it!

Don't arthur dent and ford prefect end up playing scrabble and try to find the ultimate question from a random pile of letters. they end with WHAT IS SIX TIMES SEVEN. I didnt thinkthe film was much good and it didnt really add anything to either the books the radio series or the bbc adaptation all of which are good.
As to the meaning of life. There is no meaning, we are just here by pure chance, a collection of atoms that has developed consciousness that revert to something else when we die. No god, no afterlife etc etc. I dont understand why people think that there has to be a meaning to it all. If some people need religion to help them get through it all then thats ok ( as long as it doesnt hurt anybody else). I may be proved wrong though i doubt it. The universe doesnt care about us only in the quantum world but when we go our consciousness goes with us.

Well that wasn't what I was expecting. Made me laugh though, so thank you to all of you.
So there is no group to cover my questioned topic it would seem.

I'm glad....I was afraid you'd be upset for being so off topic.

I honestly don't know what I believe. I enjoy philosophy but it requires more concentration than I can give it these days. It's kinda like reading a tax form and making sense of it.

I used to be religious, not anymore, but I don't know if I'm really to go to strict atheism. I kinda like the believe of God being dead or uncaring. He created everything (I have a slightly difficult time that everything happened completely randomly) over millions of years, and then basically let it go to fend for itself. I honestly don't know, though and no one does. It's all conjecture.

Does God exist?
personally i believe that if god does exhist he is a really sick man! Afterall that i have had to deal with he definitely made some very big mistakes when he created the world/people!

Do you believe in reincarnation?
I am not sure about reincarnation but do believe that when you die your spirit has time to visit one or two people to let them know you've gone

Have you lived before?
I think it is a possibility, As a child i used to dream of flying over a big church, as an adult i eventually saw the church in real life, not only did i see the church, but i was able to navigate the car around the town to get where we were going before seing the signposts eventhough i had never been there in real life before...it was 350 miles from my home town!

Why are we here?
I believe we are all here for adifferent reason, some are here to help others, some are here to show that love does really exhist, some are here to teach others a lesson, some are here simply to take the cxxp that others deal out and some are here to be complete axxxholes. me, I believe I am here to help others ,

What makes you think God exists?
I don't think god exhists, i think the bible like all religious books is a story made up by some story teller many years ago. I don't believe that jesus was born in jeruselem yet was not a jew, or tyhat any being can make the world in 7 days yet geoligy shows millions of years between the exhistance of dinosaurs and man and I certainly do not believe the saying god only gives you what you can deal with, if that was the case how come so many people end their lives because they can handle no more and so many more break down from the stress of their life.

Are we damaged in this life because of past life experiences?
we are definitely damaged by things that happen as very young babies/children, we can be damaged by things that happen before we are born e.g parents splitting up, and what has happened many years before does affect us today e.g past disasters affects how we build things today, past wars affect how some people interact with others today so yes i think we can be damaged in this life by things in past lives, though i am not sure the past lives were ours!

Great in that case what could we call it to get people to come take a look and get debating? Do you think we would get much interest?

On both questions ...I have no idea. Failure happens only when you don't try . I can only say that the longer I live the more I learn about the thoughts and beliefs of others concerning Spirit . Paganism & Quantum Physics , that's where I'm comfortable for right now. I find the " Old Religion " Paganism akin to the * New Religion * Science .
