The Waltons mom...
Why do Hollywood types think they are making improvements? |

Very sad indeed.
![]() I presume that she felt as though she wasn't living up to standards, or something like that. I wish that our society was more accepting of the elderly ~ shouldn't each person be seen as valuable or beautiful regardless of their age and shape??

That is sad. I feel sorry for her. She isn't even recognizable anymore. She must realize how bad it looks. We get old... there is no way around that. The best we can hope for is to accept it graciously and hope that wisdom comes with aging.

She looks like she's surprised. I think, though, that people's identifying her with Mom Walton made it hard for her to get parts--plus increasing age. I just wish the surgeon had done a better job!

I just watched the HBO movie, Behind the Candelabra, about Liberace. Plastic surgery is a major aspect of the film. Please try to view it if you have the opportunity.

Has anyone seen the commercial for the product Debby Boone advertises? It's some kind of facelift procedure, and it's aimed at women in their 70s. "I looked so old before, and now I look young...."
I'm pushing 50, and I say, what's wrong with looking elderly, if you are elderly? |

Not to be contentious but the woman is 74 years old. I don't think getting the part is a big concern of hers anymore. I see a lot of younger women and men getting surgery as well. Has nothing to do with getting parts. What kind of part is Kim Kardashian or Bristol Palin going to get? Vanity is hard to deal with.
Where I live people do value and respect the elder folks which is good because I may be one soon ![]() |

I know a woman who got that "lifestyle lift" advertised by Debbie Boone. I also have a couple of coworkers who regularly have "work" done. They DO look younger, including the Lifelstyle Lift gal. First of all, they have the money to have this done. I don't, but I can say assuredly even if I did, I would not. I don't begrudge them altering their aging, not at all.
I just feel the aging process is natural, and how we evolve physically is part of who we are. All the wrinkles and sags are like the Velveteen Rabbit...reflections of our experiences in life...which can often be beautiful, and much more appealing than the stretched faces of augmentation! ![]() |

The problem I have with plastic surgery is that the person sometimes doesn't look natural anymore. It may or may or be due to the surgeon's skill. It could be that the person insisted on the particular procedure even though the surgeon says it won't look good. People shop around for surgeons until they find one who will do what they want regardless of how they'll look afterward.

When someone is famous one of the biggest things they are judged on is their appearance. If you don't look good one day, you'll be in an article being scrutinised for it the next.
I can only imagine how that would feel, and what that would do to someone's perception of themself. |
